# 1 Stuck on Loading
01-23-2012, 12:29 PM
I just downloaded Star trek Online & Installed it after it started it patched to the latest version & the ENGAGE Button became available so I clicked engage

It proceeded to the next screen a black screen with the word "Cryptic" & a Loading Bar underneath , now that's a kind of normal thing the only problem is it been loading for 30 minutes now & the bar isn't moving past 20%

How long should this take ?

I've been having this issue ever since the patch on 1/19/12 it seems like the game is having memory leakage issues. If your computer is on the lower end, or you have 2gb(maybe 4gb?) of memory or less this seems to be a real big problem.

Things you might want to do are go in to the launcher's options (in the launcher at the top of the box between "Support" and "Release Notes") and tick the fallowing options; "Safe mode" and "Force Verify" as well as unticking the fallowing option; "Fullscreen." You also might want to add "-console" with out quotes, to the launch options under "Advanced command line."

Other things you might want to try are updating your video card's drivers, make sure nothing else is running, and starting the game only on a fresh boot, or reboot after you've played STO, or have done anything else.

After you've run the game, successfully or not check your task manager, under the "Processes" next to "Applications" check for "gameclient.exe" it most likely will still be running after close, or exit the game. The game is suffering some serious memory leakage issues from misusing the memory stack. So other than any of those options you might just want to wait until the next patch. Hopefully the developers are tracking this bug down as we speak.

PrincessYuujirou I did what you said I loaded the game with options Safe Mode & Force Verify & did get further it when thru the loading screen "the one with CRYPTIC & a loading Bar" to a screen with the Star Trek Insignia & the word loading at the bottom ..

I have played Star Trek online before on this PC when the game originally launched , I have 4gig ram & updated all drivers & have no problem playing many MMO like *** , EQ2 , Rift, WOW , Everquest, DDO , LOTRO even games like Skyrim , Divinity 2 , CODMW , Fable III & many more ..

Update : Stardate 2.1.00 Access to the Game has been achieved I added the -console command along with safe mode & Verify & closed down anything I could see running in the background & Bingo

Now if i could just turn of the damn alarm on the bridge lol

Thanks

Like I said, the game is suffering from some memory leakage issues, the more you can shut off the better.

Make sure to check your processes for extra instances of the gameclient.exe running.

Well this could even crop up with more memory. Also why don't you use newegg? Anyways. Yeah when gameclient.exe sticks for me it has a tenancy to BSOD my computer.

Um...yeah, memory leaks aren't fixed by throwing more memory at them.
