It shows Cryptic are maintaining the servers, that is a positive thing. I doubt many of you are developers or have a clue about these things. Your complaints won't change a thing.
A bit of common sense and you could consider Cryptic want whats best for the game and the players. So if keeping it online was the best thing for them then they would keep it online.
Have you any idea how many new accounts and new characters are being created right now? A lot of long term players I know in the game have created new characters just to join in. The server is handling far greater increase than ever before, excluding the games launch. Also any small glitches or bugs have a bigger negative effect now, so these small patches tweaking things are great.
There will be new content being added for activation later no doubt. Do you not want new content and little fixes which only take an hour down time out of 24 in the day?
You people talk like you only play the game for 2 hours, come on just admit it your on all bloody day and your spitting your dummy out because your addicted so badly 1 hour is tough going on you?
Point is, new or not, if you want to find out something look it up first, people will only respond so many times to the same question before it will be ignored and then you'll be moaning about that.
The server is down for a patch, it goes down every Thursday for a patch. It has been down a lot in the last week because of database stability issues and saving your character issues, so it has to be done properly unless you fancy losing a month's progress. It is being restarted daily until the stability and online demand has settled down with the increase in F2P.
