Thankfully, I do not require your approval to be correct.

With how much you are continually seeking out my posts to insult, I have come to one of two only possible conclusions.

1.) You have a crush on me, but never quite got out of the closet or past the whole "hate to love" kid phase.

or...

2.) You are one of the many Defiants who lined up to a Lance and bit the dirt hardcore. Now, you're butthurt that you got pwned by a ship that your friends can't stop laughing at you for.

Take your pick. Either way, I'm not offended.

Considering the Galaxy-X was from an alternate timeline, arguments that it doesn't align with federation tactical doctrine are somewhat suspect. In any case, I have attempted to use this ship and couldn't really tell what it wanted to be. Doubtless it's powerful, but ponderous, has an interesting BoFF setup for the weapons and tactics it proposes to employ, and while it can certainly BE used that way (CRF 1 is a LT skill after all), it isn't optimal.

The ship tanks better than an escort, but not enough to justify its terrible maneuverability. As a KDF cruiser pilot, I am intimately familiar with the cloak-and-cannons offtank style of combat, but there is no compelling reason to choose this ship over the Vor'cha-R, Negh'var, or myriad other available cruisers of similar role. It has an intriguing special weapon, however.

I have no reason to doubt Hakaishin is as proficient in the ship's use as she claims, but one's personal experience has little meaning in the grand scheme of things. I am almost certain you would be better served in another ship. If decloak alpha strikes are your thing, then perhaps it is not the Galaxy-X, but the fact that you have the heart of a klingon.

Addl: Although I'm not sure what you could do to make this ship better without disturbing the balance of things. If the galaxy-X were to turn significantly better while keeping the spinal lance, it'd simply become a superior version of the Vor'cha refit.

You're actually very likely correct.

However, that isn't why I fly the Galaxy-X.

I used to be an Escort pilot. I ripped enemies apart without the slightest effort.

But it was boring.

On the verge of leaving the game because of this boredom, I began to take increasing notice to the ridicule the Galaxy-X has received on a broad scale. In other games I've played, I've been well known for taking something that is widely accepted as nonfunctional, and somehow making it work.

So, since money has never been an obstacle, I bought the ship and eventually its Venture upgrade.

I toyed with the ship enough and sought advice from other Cruiser PvP captains I knew and trusted. Eventually I hammered out something that worked, and took it into PvP for myself.

At first, I was dying as easily as all the other Galaxy-X pilots. And then I began to question why this was happening.

Was this really because this ship is THAT horrible? Or is it user error?

Am I using this ship in a way that is making the best of what it can do, if anything?

I redesigned the ship. Redesigned, died, redesigned, died, redesigned, died.

Eventually, after enough revisions, I began to realize the Galaxy-X is NOT a tank. While an Engineer in the ship spec'd FULL heal/resist skills could do it, I was a Tactical.

The Lance intrigued me. It is still, to date, the single-hardest hitting weapon in the game.

I wanted a way to capitalize on it.

The ship has a cloak... and I began considering Romulan and Klingon canon tactics. I began considering real-life submarine tactics used during WWII. I even considered the tactics used by General Patton to overpower the vastly superior German mechanized cavalry.

It dawned on me that the ship is not a Tank - not in a Tactical's hands. It is not a healer. It isn't even a DPS. To use this ship effectively, it is meant to be used in a way few ships in game are.

A shark. A sniper.

With those tactics, I have scored incredible kills against opponents of all sorts of experience and types, from escorts, to cruisers, to carriers. Enemies died faster against me than against anyone else on the PvP community.

I refined on this. Continual refinement, including the post-F2P redesign.

That is the point I am now.

Could I perform "better" in an escort? Yes, I'd be deadly.

But I wouldn't have as much fun.

Intriguing, and I understand where you're coming from. Hm, an escort? Not quite, maybe the defiant-R with it's cloaking device, but you'd enjoy the Vor'cha refit righteously. Perhaps too much that the game felt 'easy' again. It's times like these that I wish more feds on the other side of my crosshairs had problem-solving outlooks like yours.

it's a very unique outlook though, and kudos for finding a niche for such a ship. I still hold the design in contempt though, simply from a fleet role point of view.

Most will, even after my videos. Even I do from time to time, if only because I know how easily I could crush enemies that sometimes give me trouble in this ship.

I don't play a game for ease of victory however.

I enjoy the sport of PvP, and the depth of naval combat.

It's fun to use the Galaxy-X in this fashion, for me. I derive even greater satisfaction when enemies PM me following a match just to flame me that I use such an "awful" ship, but I outranked them in the match in both DPS and Healing, got twice as many kills, and half of those kills were done in 3-4 seconds from the time I decloak to the time the enemy dies.

Angering the children who scoff me enough to rage quit is enough to provide countless moments of entertainment.
