Either they're coming out of the wormhole thinking the war is still on and thus still fighting for the Dominion (just unaware of what happened), or they're fully aware of what's gone on over the past 35 years and are taking orders from some Founder(s).

Given what the trailer has to offer, I'm more convinced that the latter is the case. We even see Jem'Hadar standing guard with a Founder wandering about on what looks like Bajor.

Knowing what we know about the Founders, Jem'Hadar, Vorta, and the Dominion, it's far more likely that they're acting on their own and not in cahoots with the Iconians. It just doesn't add up for the Iconians to be involved here.

thing is all the major powers have been killing each other for the past few years, while fending off the borg, the undine and what ever else.
What Major powers?

The Federation is at war with anyone they meet, The Klingons barely have any space and even fewer warriors, and the Romulans are fractured into pieces and the Cardassians have no true military.

The only ones who MIGHT make a diffrence would be the Terrans xD

Those ships best "Attack" was always the Suicide Ram... Besides that they were never very impressive. So basically the two newest ships are doomed because they could not get out of the way to save their lives... Which is disturbingly fitting for the Odyssey... However, the MVAE and the BoP's are ideal for dealing with these pathetic little nuisances.

Besides, I have probably blown up far more than 2,800 ships so far. It is tedious but fully within my ability.

Their "outdated" ships are still better than any federation escort.

I might be remembering the numbers wrong, but near the end of season 7 of DS9, when it is discovered that only the Klingon ships can quickly be adjusted to counteract the Breen energy weapon, Martok promises 1500 warships to defend the borders, after which someome replies that he'd be outnumbered 20:1, implying that there are 30000 Dominion (+Cardy & Breen) ships.

Additionally, during the retaking of DS9, the Dominion commits 1200 ships to its defense (anticipating being able to add the 2800 soon after), while the Federation brings 600 ships. These 600 ships, while being a significant part of the Federation fleet, are only refered to as a "task force" and it is implied that many more ships are available. This 600 ship taskforce barely holds ground against the 1200, but with the surprise decloaking of a Klingon taskforce of unknown size, the allies punch through.

While the numbers in both situations are quite far apart, in both cases you can conclude that a combined effort of KDF and SFC should be able to handle the 2800 with relative ease. Especially since the KDF/SFC ships are 40 years more advanced now and both factions have invested significantly in war efforts since the Dominion War due to the number of conflicts in the area since then. Starfleet now has an "escort" ship category, which has no purpose other than to fight.l

(take the M-16 auto rifle U.S. made - the thing is just as lethal as it was first introduced - despite the various new weapons that have been introduced. Same applies with certain warships in the U.S. Navy)

I prefer to think of the M2 browning machined gun first introduced in World War 1 and is still used by the military today. ^_^ close to a hundred years of service for a single weapon system.

Probably not the best example. It's pretty well acknowledged the M-16 was a lightweight, unreliable piece of crap when it was first produced for use in Vietnam and only thirty years of refinement and advancement have made it into a solid-if-unremarkable assault rifle.

I truly hope we feel this way by the end so it has some emotional impact or reasonable on the game world and its players.
