Whats the rule on which weapon it uses..its it a cool down thing or is it a placement thing to figureout which beam to use overload on.

If I remember correctly it uses the left slotted weapons only...

so you got four banks of weapons..u sould put your dual beam banks on the left side and arrays on the right

err.. the beam overload fires on the next weapon in the cycle.


aka, if you have phaser-plasma-disruptor-tetryon in the front and you click overload while the plasma is shooting then the disruptor will do the overload not the 'weapon on the far left' (phaser).

If no weapons are on cool down hen it will default to the left hand weapon, if weapons are out of arc or on cool down it will choose the first valid weapon.

It may be worth binding the weapon you want to fire the beam overload to a key so you can fire that off, then hit space to fire the rest.

Right.. which means the next weapon on the cycle. If weapons are not on cooldown it means they've not been fired yet and the first to fire is always the one on the left. I guess if the player intends on making sure the opening shot is a beam overload thats ok but.. really... that would only apply to the very first target in a swarm.
