The fact that the vesta is going to be in game before the Ambassador is making me laugh.

And the same could be said for just about every cannon ship that could have already been added-Andorian battle cruiser, New Orleans class cruiser, Kelvin type cruiser, etc.
The Ambassador was listed as a possability over a year ago, along with the Vesta. Development stopped on a lot of things around here because of the sale to PWE. Now that the game is strictly FTP, they have more incentive to begin churning out ships the players want.

I think I'd prefer to have the Lt Tac. BOFF slot be universal. Either make the consoles the same as the excelsiors (4 engi, 2 sci, and 3 tac) or make it 3, 3, 3 to be more balanced. It should be a retrofit enterprise_C with the same .8 turn-rate as the Excelsior retrofit.

Another option would be to make it the cruiser equivalent of a bird of prey. Roughly excelsior stars and systems, perhaps know a weapon or two off, and turn everything universal. We definitely donít have that.

The reason why bird of preys are cool is because they are nimble and unique with their universal boff arrangments. Making it the cruiser equivalent of a bop would essentially neutralize any advantages the KDF have with an equivalent BOP in PVP. That doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

This of course assumes the majority of people care about canon.

New Orleans class cruiser,
When did this become canon?

They can't use stuff from the JJ film sadly.

The Kelvin is also from TOS. It looked a a lot more simular to the TOS Constitution but with only one Engine centered. Just like in the JJ film, but using the TOS model.

However, all moot points because the Ambassador Class has been asked for since beta.

The only other thing I can think of that hasn't been done would be an escort that can't use dual or heavy cannons. It would be a nice change of pace to get high end tactical without relying on cannons, but that's about all I can think of that's different.

I mean the biggest problem with making it a galaxy class is you have like what, 7-8 galaxy variants already in the game. I really don't think making it a skin would be an advantage.

Edit: I correct myself. You could make it a single deck carrier cruiser, but that might intrude on the upcoming caitian carrier.

If you're talking about this ship, that's not canon.

I said it was Cannon because it is mentioned as the ship Kirks father commands in one of the shows or movies.

I don't remember any reference to what ship George commanded prior to the 09 Movie, nor can I find it on Memory Alpha. But even if there is a reference to George commanding the USS Kelvin, that does not mean it would be a Kelvin Class or that it would look anything like the fan-made pic you have linked above.
