They are big enough to be mistaken for a cruiser, probaly not the Vulcan ship but my point is based on recognising the Silhouette. Not that they function like a cruiser. I wasn't very clear on this re-reading my original post.

Wait until you see the Vesta: about the same size as the Sovereign, but will be a Science Vessel.

Short story: I've got this game the moment it went F2P. Because I grew up watching the original Star Trek and really love retro-scifi I got all the TOS-related content in STO like uniforms, bridges and ships. I am currently playing at level 44 and even though I've equipped my TOS Connie with the best items I could find on the exchange it's hard to fight against Cardassian ships with it. My ship did a good job all through the Klingon and Romulan campaigns.

So there's my request: Please, please make a TOS Constitution Retrofit to match level 40+. I know it is a small ship compared to the large cruisers but so is the Prometheus and the Intrepid - which actually have a refit-version. You could even give the Connie similar stats as for the Prometheus or Intrepid. Or do a TOS Connie ship-costume for the Excelsior Retrofit.

I am sure a lot of players would appreciate that because it's the most well known starship in science fiction history. And yeah, it's James T. freakin' Kirk's vessel, so it deserves a retrofit imo. I would throw my money at the screen for it.

Thanks.
We all have our favorite ship type in the game that we'd love to fly forever and ever - mine is the Exeter. Unfortunately that causes continuity problems within the IP; and, apparently, CBS isn't too fond of the idea.

Of course nothing's stopping you from still using your TOS Connie. I've taken an NX to level 50 on Elite, and I know many people who have taken their TOS Connie to VA as well. Grand Nagas uses his Exeter at VA on one of his alts - he calls it his T5 Connie. There's always options if you're not too hung up on the need for power or into PvP.

Or better yet as an escourt with extra engineering powers.

A thought...

Why not offer it as a skin for the Excelsior ships? Both the AHC and AHCR?

The take seems to be that CBS doesn't like the idea that a 200 year old T1 ship should be a viable choice for high level play. Basically they don't want to convolute their 25th Century IP with 23rd Century stylings. IE, they don't want TOS Connies going up against Sovereigns or Odysseys.

Whether or not that idea makes sense is really up to CBS, as CapnLogan could probably make the skin in just a few days and Cryptic knows they'd sell thousands of them in the C-Store. It's not like Cryptic to turn away a buck if it's their choice.

And to be honest I agree. The TOS ships are very out of kilter with the current aesthetic of present federation designs. Having them low tier and 'pressed back into service' does make a lot of sense.

It's confusing because the official take is that they're Replica ships - IE, new ships built with old styles frames. If that's the case then question then becomes: Why can you make a T5 Defiant Refit that is 120 m long but can't make a T5 Connie Refit when that ship is 289 m long?

I personally think it breaks immersion to have any of the older ships in the game, but I understand we are all fanboys of particular era and want what we want. But if it were up to me STO would focus on all new 25th Century ship designs.

I honestly believe the lack is because of CBS, though. As I said above, Cryptic knows a T5 TOS Connie would be a huge seller, so if it were up to them it would be in the game already.

This is one of the things I've seen suggested so many times. People would pay big money for this. Maybe even up to or over 3000 c-credits.

A tier 5 version would be great, as I'm currently approaching RA. But you'd have to simply give it +15 engine, 4 Engineering slots, 3 science, and 2 tac. The Enterprise was originally a science/engineering ship. So few tac would be accurate. Simply put. CBS needs to allow it. Or we won't get one.

In almost every other area, STO tries to be "all Treks to all people", letting us wear the uniforms we want, give our ships garishly non-canon paint jobs, etc. But in order to create the illusion of progression against foes that level up with us, the IMO woefully misguided Tier system forces us to change ships every ten levels or fall behind the power curve. The odds suggest that we'll be pushed out of a ship we like into one we don't at least as often as we unlock a favorite. And at the level cap, some people are lucky enough to have one or more favorites as an option (though perhaps requiring C-points to purchase) while others... aren't.

Given how little the actual gameplay of STO changes from 1-50 (and yes, I have run STFs), and all the other complaints about how leveling currently works (a galaxy full of Admirals), and short of tossing out the Tier system altogether, I'd personally be just as happy if we could turn off xp and stay at a certain Tier and rank. CBS doesn't have to worry about Tier 5 Connies, I can keep flying my Tier 1 TOS or Tier 2 TMP cruiser as long as I like (with limited BOFFs, true), no one is misled in PvP... the only problem I can see is that it might reveal the essential pointlessness of getting to 50.
