Guys, what do you think of this suggestion? (Might have been covered elsewhere)

Cryptic disable all play to win consoles as soon as you enter PVP arenas via the queing system.

or

Team based cooldown each time a play to win console is used.



In privately created matches, its up to the teams competing to discuss.

hmmm.. the idea has interesting concepts.. but not solely for P2W consoles.. why do I need to be subnuked 3 different times in a row, for example? I use my science team like I should, but only to find out 5 seconds later (after the protection expires) that I have been subnuked again. It might make these premades a little more challenging for the fleets. But perhaps they could just increase the protection time in that particular scenario. I dunno, but I do know one thing. I never saw these offensive sci and offensive eng. skills used with such frequency in any movie or series. It was a one time deal per battle, and then you were left with your shields, hull, and weapons. Cryptic's battles are not "realistic" when you can consider that I can be subnuked 3 times in a row or have my engines perma disabled. Its like my crew can't retain what they learned or something.

Anyway, this isn't solely about P2W consoles, but many other areas of the game too. Cryptic needs to take some lessons from Starfleet Command II: Orion Pirates, because that game was and continues to this day to be the ultimate space battle strategy game without all this "arcade" feeling crap.

Take away the pets and p2w consoles from klinks and the ballance will go towards Feds, premade vs premade wise (trying to compare apples to apples). At least IMO that's the sad truth. I am for a global cool down though, or a limit of 1-2 consoles per ship. And with pets, there is nothing so annoying. Maybe some ui changes so we won't be able to auto select pets, or an option to configure it. That on the top of tuning some of them like energy and tach drones.

What do you guys think?

Well Imo both are great ideas. But since they are Great ideas theres no hope of cryptic doing it...

What about a one time use of console until you die, then it resets for another one time use? This way teams that are winning and don't need the advantage can't keep using them, and teams that are losing have an edge?

Balance is already in the fed favor. Yes pugs get murdered by klinks all the time and p2w or not that won't ever change. Klink ships lend themselves too more Damagecetnric (I made that word up lol) builds that + cloak means pugs are for the most part doomed as fed cruisers swing very far in the other direction.

Premades are a different story p2w or not a good fed premade will almost always destroy a good klink team. The ships are inferior period. What annoys me the most about cryptics solution too klink balance is the idea of a ton of Paid units that balance the faction out somewhat... its cheap and lazy... and a money grab. Your kllink team can compete now just load x y and z unit on every ship... I really really hate what Cryptic has done to the Klingon faction. They need new sci and escort ships... they need less pet junk (stop releasing "flight Crap" cruisers).

Myself I would simply like too see something like a 2 min global added too abilities originating from gear in general... This would mean borg tractor beams and engine / shield / deflector clickyes (we will get them at some point) as well as the consul units would really have a limit of 1 or 2 per ship depending on there cool downs... or someone can load 3 or 4 and only really use one or so at a time if you will. Some units like klink plasma leaches should activate the global the min there effect is activated. (its the most op unit in the game by far anyway)

Bad idea.

What we need is to find a way to monetize PvP. Ideally in a way so it doesn't get less fun at the same time. (So P2W consoles fail at that. Awesome for Cryptic, sucks for us. Better to find something that actually works for Cryptic and us. Our wallets still lose, but we won't mind.)

Maybe Player ships should drop lock boxes on destruction?
Or maybe (for less loot clutter), winning PvP matches earns you 3 lockboxes and you have a 20 % chance for one key.

Maybe I should make my own thread for this.

Yay more boxes! the 75 that drop every match is enough imo...

I think mustrum is looking for a compromise here, we all hate the damn boxes, but I think the only way cryptic/perfect world would give up the console & pets war would be to gain some monetary advantages. Would it be the best way? For me it sounds good, but I can't speak in the name of all pvp-ers.
