I'm having trouble with the optional objective in Eriksson.

All the forum listings on the subject are over a year old and a fix has been mentioned, but I'm still having problems. Any hints?

Loadout
Tac Captain
Hegh'ta Heavy Bird-of-Prey
DHC, DHC, DHC, BNW
Aegis Set
Turret, BA
Red Matter, SFM
Tac - Tac Team, APD I, APB II, APO III
Tac - Targ Shld, CRF I, CRF II
Eng - EPtS I. ET II
Sci - Jam I, Scamble I

I also have a Kar'Fi Battle Carrier and a Bortas, if you think either would be better

Many Thanks

This one has always been a toughie for me too -- I usually try and team up with a couple friends to complete it

hmmm....
It saddens me to see your having trouble with this one, especially since you have a good setup.

Do you focus on disabling the first 2 Freighters first before dealing with the civilian escorts?

After you disabled the shield generator do you focus on disabling those freighters, and looting them, before dealing with the reenforcements?

Here are my thoughts. The later ones might seem like "is your power plugged in". Please don't take offense since I don't know your level of play:

1) Normal difficulty - Even if you like to be pro, farm dailies on Normal difficulty so you can get to the fun stuff sooner
2) Scatter Volley instead of Rapid Fire
3) Use DPS cooldowns liberally
4) Use cloak for your opener. Make sure to pop cooldowns before decloaking (starting with Scatter Volley). Also make sure to drop out of full impulse several seconds before decloaking so your energy levels are normal.
5) Stick to one energy weapon type. Make sure your tactical consoles are all specific for your energy type
6) Buffed weapon energy level should be 120-125.
7) Get better gear (I do mine in Purple XI craftables)
8) Is Shield targetting really worth it? You'd get more theoretical raw DPS with another DHC and another Tac Team.
9) Not sure what BA is, but I go all turrets in the rear

I've got many setups/tactics to be able to get all 8 freighters easily... Contrary to what some people think the bortas is actually the best ship for this location.

Also for the OP the problems you are having is mainly due to the setup of the ship. The bop you use speed and the ship like bortas you would use your reach with fire at will to disable all the freighters at once before they can move. The key to these freighter missions is to stop the freighters from moving anywhere. Basically the best tactic is to disable all of them, pop an escort or two re-disable freighters, rinse and repeat until you beam all the cargo out.

Missions like this get easy for a bop when you use them as they are designed as hit and run ships so you want to get optimum dps (not over kill sometimes thats my problem blowing them up), then balance your shield/hull healing and speed abilities like emr power to engines. In the end with a bop to do this right you play a fun game of hide and seek with the escort ships. If you are fast enough you don't have to kill them until all the cargo is beamed out.

Remember also that's it's 4 transports that you have to loot, not all. Get 1 pair at the begining and drop the shields 1 at a time. Take your time too or the transports will escape.

Yeah, the easy way's to cripple the two freighters nearest, butcher their escorts, catch the freighters again, and if you're able to, get one or two more, but there's two more in she shield if you don't. Photonic shockwave, tractor beam repulsors, chroniton torpedo spreads, gravity wells, ejecting warp plasma or theta muckyness... there's a lot you can do to slow the freighters down as well.

My best is six, although I think with CSV3 and torpedo spread 3 I could probably get the lot.
