# 1 STO Captain Skills
03-03-2012, 08:29 AM
I've just now reinstalled STO after a long time (I've logged in maybe once since they added the VA rank). My question is, what happened to the specific Ship Captain (escorts, cruisers, science vessels, etc.) skills? Are they no longer used or necessary?

they are still there. captain skills were not altered at all since the game came out, the skills are still there. might have to hit P key to see them.

skills were never based on ship, they were based on your career, so an engineer in a cruiser at the same level would have the same skills as an engineer in a science vessel.

the only different powers they would have would be from universal C-store ship consoles.

I don't mean active skills that can be used, I mean the skill tree where you distribute skill points. There were certainly ship-specific skills required to pilot, and be more effective with, certain types of ships as well as skills for individual weapon types which also seems to have changed, though I never really liked the specialized weapon skills anyway.

oh those.

Cryptic removed all class/type specific sklills when they remade the system so that people wont have to respec every time they want to change weapons or go into a different class of ship.

The skills got changed. What you see is what you get. If it's not there, then they got rid of it.
