Thanks for all the replies folks, much informations.

Glad to hear it's not a terrible idea, I'll definately give it a shot although I am torn between the MVAM and the Defiant-R.

The MVAM would be good for the extra sci console, gravity well is always good to have up your sleeve! But the extra tac station sounds like fun too. I've got an Andorian Boff with Scatter Volley 3 all lined up already to try it, although I'll have to spend some series EC to get some decent weapons and consoles.

When I make a decision, shall let you know!

The big problem really is power settings, especially if youre running an MVAE. Sensor scan and your lt. Commander sci power (Grav Well I, Tykens I, whatever) are affected by auxiliary power. So to get the most of these you probably need to run at least 50 aux base. This means that shields and engines need to be at 25 base each, with a possible incursion into weapon power as well, which I would not reccomend. For elite STFs, shield power isnt really as big of a deal as you would think, since you're going to get popped pretty quick either way if youre targeted by anything that can do any damage.

Quick update:

Decided to go for the Defiant-R


Have only ran two STFs, Cure and Infected, boy were they awesome fun!
I shall post my full load out later

Weapon loadout:

1 phaser DHC
2 phaser Dual cannon
1 quantum Torp

3 phaser Turrets

Boff skills:
2x Tac team
Attack Patterns omega and Beta
Cannon scatter volley and rapid fire
Torpedo spread and High yeild
Emergency power to Shields
Reverse Sheild Polarity
Science Team (Which may change due to it conflicting with the tac team)
Hazard Emitters

Can't remember all consoles:
Omega Set XI
Borg Uni console
2 phaser relays XI
quantum console XI


All in all, very fun and it rips through ships like no ones business! Takes soem time to destroy generators and stationary things in STFs though
