# 1 Best ship for TAC
03-07-2012, 07:29 AM
I have been playing the fed side for 2 years, I finally started up my klingon character. I'm playing a TAC, and like on my FED side I want to fly something like an escort. The closest ship I can find to an escort is the raptor - is this correct?

If that is the case why is there no refit version? Seams to me that whats there is pretty basic and not very advanced.

I like having the 4 weps up front, 3 in back with 4 tac consoles.

So is there a level 50 version of the raptor coming?

Also all the other ships in the c-store come with some special console or ship power do any of them transfer to the raptor if you purchase them?

I'm currently level 44 and just looking ahead to what i want my end state ship to be.

The Garumba is very nice ship to use for tactical at 50.

The only consoles that DO NOT transfer about at this time are the repair platform and the phase shift. Theta, Aceton, Isometric, and all that wonderful jazz transfer around just fine.

No idea on any raptor in the works.

KHG set will give you a bonus to torpedo damage that is right in line with a nice tactical damage console.

Well, keep in mind that the Qin and other VA stuff is just as good as the 50 Cstore stuff.

Personally, if you like raptors over raiders, it's hard to go wrong with the Qin.

The Qin is effectively the tac retrofit, but with more crew, slightly worse turn rate, and integrated cloak (so no console taking up room).

And you don't have to spend CPoints.

I'm ok with spending C-points. Garumpa has less weapons right? And it can't cloak? The Qin is that a raptor but its not VA level right? Meaning it has less weapon slots?

Qin is a T5 ship, it's just not a VA ship.

QIn writeup is here:
Look at the bottom of the page at the fifth line (T5) of ships.

You get ships at level 40, then there are ships available at level 50 (generally bought). The level 50 ships and level 40 ships are both T5, and are equal in power -- the level 50 ships just have odd tricks or unusual designs, but you can quite happily stick with the level 40 ships.

For example, the B'rel and Hegh'ta.
Both are T5, but the B'rel is a level 50 ship. Most of the stats are the same -- the B'rel gets a special enhanced battle cloak (can fire torps/mines while cloaked) and is a little more maneuverable, and also has stronger shields, but it also has a smaller crew (not that that's hugely important, but still), and 7/8 as much hull.

Is the B'rel better than the Hegh'ta? If you plan on a torp raider build, sure. If you aren't, having an EVEN MORE brittle raider might not be your thing.
