Okay, just what every failing MMO needs... a 'herding cats' mission.
Not only herding cats, but herding them into map geography where they promptly become 'stuck'.
The avoidance subset they're using is straight out of the 8-bit era and should be scrapped. When you're trying to herd the stupid things (I gave up after 20 minutes) they should move toward the goal, not randomly skitter off in all directions.
Toss this mission, it's simply stupid.
Or change it; such as having the 'newborn' ones attach to your ship so you can ferry them, or at least follow it, with the adults following the pack leaders so that herding the pack leader attracts nearby adults.
I honestly cannot say as I've encountered as stupid a mission in this in many, many years, though I understand World of Woecraft has such.
Well I totaly have to agree.
Justed tried it and mien coinstantly moved either towards me or stopped moving for a few minutes.
The Idea is pretty nice i think - but the way it works out is just plain fail.
Gave up after the counter went from 6/20 to 2/18 (?!?) (i didn't even see 20 gekli on the map btw.)and had the 3rd or 4th just refused to move...
Ah and theyre sutpidly slow even if they move i had to pull doen throttel to something like 25% to stay behind them... and even then i was slightly faster then them. (with all power to engines, but they should move at leats half as fast as your max speed.
Until now i thought Gorn Minefield was the baddest space map in STO - well now i know its the second surpassed by Gekli Feedings ground by a large margin.
I also agree, after spending over 40mins in this map i got 10 cardassian lockbox and nothing to show otherwise apart from wasted time, what the hell is the point in trying to move something that dies before it gets close to the bubble?
Double the speed, cut half the map off, but please do something because this is a poor excuse for a level....
I found this mission about as fun as jabbing out my eyes with dull pencils. If a species of animal can't make a 20km trip through its native habitat to feed itself without the help of space ships....I'm sorry but they should probably go extinct and save us all the trouble of trying to figure out the point of the mission...which I must conclude seems to have non other than being annoying.
The team I was on just sat there clueless as I herded as much of the gekli as I could before the Undine re-spawned and "killed" some of the infants I herded into the "bubble." As hard as I tried to explain to them how to do it, they still just sat there. I finally gave up when the gekli count actually hit a negative number after about 4 Undine respawns.
