I haven't heard about the cannons, but I'd doubt it. Of course it comes with an Escort Combat Pet that has it's own Quad cannons.
The 10 Console slots are a nice bonus, plus 3 of them are Tac - which equals the Excelsior and exceeds the Gal-X. The Aquarius is probably equivalent to the Lance, and you have the extra tanking ability the Odyssey brings over the Gal-X.
The Aquarius will give you damage over time while the Lance gives you one shot every few minutes - and forces you to keep the target in the front arc, which is not always easy to do in a Turn Rate 6 Cruiser.
They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I guess it will come down to play-style more then anything else.
looking at that post with the Oddy+1 specs, I am really not impressed, the Oddy tac is no better than the Galx in regards to off Layout, Yes it might have a Lt Cmd uni, but that will most likly be an Eng for some sustain, and teh ens uni will be a tac.
You could run them the other way around but you wont be able to keep up 2 copes of EPtS and W.

the +10Aux boost if also meh.
Galx X > Oddy Tac +1
Also, no cloaking device on the Ody. Even with the extra console slots, the inability to load cannons and lack of spinal lance put it at a disadvantage, IMO. The event Ody isn't THAT far off from what's going up in the c-store, and I'm certainly not going back to it from my Dreadnaught.
There's a thread on it on the forum right this minute. I've been posting to it.
There is definitely demand for such a beast. Whether or not the devs capitalize on it, there's no way to know, but seeing as it was the last canon Enterprise, and it seems to fit a 'sweet spot' niche quite well, I would hope that they realize there are probably a lot of people who would pay for a Sovy upgrade that wouldn't spring for the Ody for whatever reason (in my case, if I avoid it, it's because the inertia/turn combo is extremely frustrating).
