# 1 About Energy Weapons revisited
03-13-2012, 01:43 AM
Hey again, I think ive made a topic about this before so I need a refresher. I understand that Dual Heavy Cannons are supposed to be the hardest hitting thing out there in terms of frontal Arc fire, but which is stronger? Cause Dual Heavys eat up -12 of your weapon power while Beam Arrays only take up -10, and i factored in once the amount of damage potential between an equal quality and tier Beam array (5 beam arrays) set up and a Dual Heavy Cannons (3 Dual Heavy Cannons) and my initial calculations showed that the 5 beams when they all hit the same target would deal more damage if anything deal it faster as well, so im at a bit of a loss, which is supposed to be stronger overall? Cause ive heard someone say that Beam Boats as they call them are pretty darn effective.

I do not remember who posted a graph chart on a previous thread, but that chart was an awesome source. If anyone here on this forum can assist in identifying the poster or the thread he posted the graph, it would be most appreciated,

Basically he compared weapon and power rate using this awesome graph. I'll try hunting the thread and its OP down, should help yah.

I believe the OP was Nagorak, still trying to hunt the thread down. Hopefully he'll see this and makes a reference or link to that thread.

@Nagorak did more than just post the graph, he even created a DPS calculator for the game. Pretty neat.

Basically, DHCs hit harder thanks to the way the entire energy system works out. It is too a large effect a question of how long a weapon cycle is and at what point the drain actually takes effect. The end effect is that -12 power costs the DHCs less damage than -10 power cost the DCs and beams.

So an array of Five beams broadsiding or Dual Cannons focusing one target suffers less of a damage drain then DHCs?
