Just got on Tribble to take a look at the new Odysseys. The first thing that jumped into my eye when I looked at them: They all have 10 console slots. 4 Engineering, 3 Science, 3 Tactical on the tactical variant, 5 Engineering, 3 Science, 2 Tactical on the engineering variant and 4 Engineering, 4 Science, 2 Tactical on the science variant. All other T5 ships have nine console slots. Ladies and gentlemen, applause for our first T5 pay to win ship.

Pay to Win in a game that has almost no incentive, nor appeal in PvP?

Well, I never.

The game went Pay to Win with the Galaxy X. It's just now crossing the absolute minimum line that some folks set. But we've been on this path for over a year.

Its not only the console setup.

Technicly the Odysee is the ultimate sandbox cruiser.
You can replicate ALL other Cruser BO setups with it 1 at 1. Just with more consoles (and a lower turn rate but since its a cruiser...)
This ship can litarally do everything and makes all other cruisers entirely obsolete.

Really... for me thats a gamebraker.
I dont go into pvp or STFs with a significantly weaker ship.
And its not that I'm not willing to pay for a better ship (although I dislkie the pay2win concept, I understand that under f2p money has to be made somehow), its that we are forces to take such an UGLY piece of garbage for this.

I mean; if they want the sandbox ship; fine. Unlock the other cruiser skins for it and I MIGHT buy one or two odysees.
And give Scis and escorts the same treatment, pay for the sandbox ships that can be costumized visually and tecnicly; if thats what they want... okey.
I mean people asked for more universal slots since release, so good.... go ahead.

But the one ueber ship limitet to the MKII-ugly-whale-class visuals... no, that just sucks. It takes ANYTHING thats good about this game out.

The game went p2w the moment the first ship went into the cstore. Ever since then it was only about how blatant p2w the game was, and well with the oddy variants now we know that they only care about the $ any more and don't give anything about balance or the usefulness of other ships of the same class.

To be fair, the GX was also sort of gimped when it first launched. 4/3 weapons, horrible turn rate, etc. They've tweaked it since launch.

Sry the G-X was never a pay to win ships. Most pilots failed desperatly in her. For all her benefits she had to pay her prices.

Not so the Odysee. Its simply better then the other, no downsides ti speak of.
And no, the low turnrate isnt really that much of a downside, beside the Excelsior and Souvereign all cruisers had low turnrates. Escorts depend on turnrate, scis with deflector abilitys depend on turnrate. For cruisers (that cant even equip cannons) a low turnrate is a minor inconvenience at best.

I had no doubt this was going to happen, but not only did they decide to screw the game over by such a blatant "pay to win" move they had to do it with the ugliest ship in the game...

So now that we have firmly established the fact that there is absolutely no concern for what the player base may think of pay to win ships... how about a pay to win T6 Connie hmm? I mean at least the Connie has style to it! 12 consoles, all universal slots, go all the way with her and I'd pay $50 in a heartbeat... Call them "Hero Ships" or something, do one ridiculously OP ship for each of the classes featured in the series maybe.

But until then I'm sticking with my Sovereign...

And they said Free To Play would be "good" for the game... I sure haven't seen much "good" out of it.

I am not getting the new ships because, guess what, it doesn't matter what ship you use in pve! It is all fluff.

All cruisers can indeed equip cannons.
