Well you could turn it into a giant escort with cannons. Use the subspace jump and snare to line up shots instead of making turns. I was doing that a bit last night for the fun of it. it's only effective in PvE and I still prefer the beam boat version using none of those bortasqu consoles.
Sensor Analysis actually boosts DPS far mor than another tac console - in fact it equals about 6 consoles.
Its why it may need a looking at.
Of course many also say that it takes too long to use and is easily counterable and that the 5th tactical slot is the OP aspect that needs looking into, which is quickly followed by posts that demostrate that the same 5th tac slot only adds a minimal amount of damage increase followed by posts that the Disruptor autocannon is OP followed by the Odyssey escort pet can one-shot players followed by.......... well you get the picture.
Is it no wonder many will not spend money on thses vessels that may not even bee the same in a weeks time due to the conjecture that sorrounds them.
As a relatively new Engineering Brigadier General and already having the 2nd anniversary Bortas and no XI/XII consoles is it worth me investing the £32 on the three Bortasqu variants? I'd like to do it just to show Cryptic that there are KDF players still willing to invest in the game but don't want to waste my money if they're only a fraction better than the other ships available to Brigadier Generals.
If I did get them what would be a suitable setup for PVE dailies and what would be good for PVP as an Engineer?
First, the sci versions of each ship have the highest DPS because of Sensor Analysis.
But the Odyssey can add the Separation console to get a decent turn rate, which the Bortasqu can't. So you are basically stuck as a broadsiding beam boat, which renders the snare console and the disruptor hose useless.
(And no, the snare does not make up for turn rate, because it has a long cooldown.)
Of course, it does LOOK very cool, and has an awesome bridge...
Can't say about ody bc I haven't tried one (and maybe I never will) but using the disruptor cannon is not an impediment, at least for me, other than you really need to use evasives to be effective.
Also, a question for you of you don't mind, the sensor analysis is a passive, correct?
Oh, and as for autocannon vs. broadsides... I just broadside anyway. The autocannon with 3 min cooldown doesn't come THAT often, and I'm usually maneuvering around a lot anyway.
The snare console, so far, seems pretty useless, at least in pve.
Then prepare yourself to be even more dissappointed in PvP.
When I fired it, it was hard to make out an effect, visually or otherwise. As for the auto-cannon barrage I fired 2.47 km from behind a MVAE and his shields didn't even flutter. As soon as he noticed me, I was deadly in ten seconds flat. I can tank 3 - 4 ships in my Negh'var as an Engineer. With the exact same build, with an additional skills as well, the "engineering" variant lasts 10 secs against 1 ship.
I was not at all impressed with this ship to say the least. I much rather favour my Negh'Var. Sadly this was just another impulse buy, one in a string of poor decisions.
