Inventory maintenance has always been a chore in MMO's, and STO is no exception. Up until now, it didn't much matter as consumables were limited. With DOffing, it's a whole 'nother ball game.
I'm endlessly emailing myself contraband, resources, etc. - and it's taking up a LOT of time. Got to get the toon to a bank, have to withdraw, and then mail. Logout, get other toon to a bank, and then get back to the mission location to accept it. If Azurus isn't on cooldown, you can make it a bit quicker - but it's still a huge chore. Plus, since you can't split stacks, often you have to do the whole process in reverse to get the rest back to your original toon.
I so would like to manage all this on one toon, and see what I have in total. I also am so tired of clicking and dragging. It feels like this could be worked on using existing mechanics.
1) Just like we get the choice when we load a bank to view our bank, or the fleet bank, also let it list the banks on our alts. Just to keep everyone happy (i.e. people who share accts with family members), make it optional - your character can mark their bank "shared" or not. If it's shared, it shows up on the other characters when they load up a bank as a choice. If not, it doesn't.
2) While the above would be a great solution by itself, if you mix it with the cargo hold - so when you pick a DOff assignment, it can pull from your bank and your alts banks. Again, make it a toggle - I'm sure some would not like this - but for most of us it would be such a time saver.
While MMO's are often about "work for it", it feels like I'm spending as much time juggling inventory these days as I am flying around picking assignments. It would be so nice if our characters could work together as a group, which I believe is the direction the game is going. I'm sure there are other grand designs about this, but it seems that in the meantime at least one of these solutions would be feasible to get in the game sooner.
Both would be awesome but even one would save time so I could spend more time playing and not juggling inventory and mail like I'm a space age dock worker - when I'm an Admiral, damn it!.
