A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
With the release of the new Odyssey comes an indication that we will probably be seeing a steady stream of more powerful ships added to the game making the current best ships in the game gimped by comparrison.
It stands to reason since it is now F2P that Cryptic will follow that pattern to maintain a steady revenue stream. Only time will tell how often they will do this. It may be every six months we will see our current ships that we already use become ever more obsolete forcing us to pay to win, or play gimped.
Necessarily both the Galor and the Bug ship would eventually fall to the wayside in terms of practical viability along with all the other C-Store ships we currently use.
None of this matters at all if your just into PvE.
It is only the PvP community that will have to deal with the implications of this trend.
Yes they are usable on all ships, but only with the Jem'Hadar set do you get a +7% damage. Since those weapons are only Rare Quality in terms of damage output if you don't use the Jem'Hadar set for the extra 7% damage to increase their DPS to that of a very rare weapon they are arguably not worth using and without getting the third 1% proc for using the set they are arguably not worth using either because to get it you have to forgoe using the Borg Set and of course all of those factors adding up to make it worth it require a Galor, or a Bug ship.
In other words to maximize the benifits of the new weapons you really do need to use a Galor, or a Bug ship with the full Jem'Hadar set.
You could go with using just two parts of the Jem'Hadar set to get the 7% and still be able to use 2 parts of the Borg set with a MACO shield and that arguably may be very effective on some other ship. I have not tried it, or talked with anyone who has, so I do not know for sure.
The +7% to polaron dmg is a set bonus which works on all ships.

I said that.

The downside of course is you lose the Borg Multigenerative Shield Array which is the proc that goes off the most and is also the the best proc the Borg Retro set has in my opinion. It might not be such a major issue if you have a Hull tank configuration, but the vast majority of people run a shield tank configuration including myself.
The way I see it is if your going to use two parts of the Jem'Hadar Set to increase the DPS on the new weapons anyway it becomes overwhelmingly enticing to use all the three parts of the set to add the third proc; and of course you can only do that with a Galor, or Bug ship.
The third weapon proc is the only justifiable tradeoff I can think of that could possibly be worth giving up the MACO shield for. I have tried the Jem'Hadar shield on my current ship and it just does not come close to the MACO in performence especially when combined with 3 parts of the Borg Retro set which adds two additional regeneration powers to Hull and Shields.
If and when they ever institute a meanful effect to a ships crew being disabled/killed that might change, but as it is the most major beneficial ability to the Jem"hadar Shields which is keeping your crew alive and uninjured is simply near useless with the current game mechanic.
Repairing your hull is taken care of by Boff Powers (Hazards/Engineering Team) making the disabled/killed crew issue near meaningless in terms of the crew effect on hull repair. Although I am unsure if the percentage of live/active crew effects the amount of time it takes to repair a subsystem. I don't think it does, but it should and frankly it should be a significant factor.
Sadly the +10% resistance to Kinetic Damage the Jem'Hadar shields offer only results in roughly a 2% increase to damage reduction. That I have tested.
All things considered this post got me to thinking about the possibilities of a Galor running a Hull Tank configuration.
Set the settings to:
Number of sides: 100
Number of dice to roll: 1
Number of rolls: 1
Count the times you get a 1 at clicking "roll dice" and ask yourself if this buff should really be the make or break in your descission to spend millions of EC.
The lockbox galor is a quite unique ship which with its high turn and low HP probably comes closest to a cruiser/escort hybrid. But from what I gathered from the few PvP posts about it, its kind of too squishy to be a threat there and lots of PvE can also be done in a good equiped T2 ship (plan some extra time when going after bad guys in a Constitution refit ) so it is not a requirement there too.
If you are not a collector or have a char who "needs" this for RP reasons because of his/hers cardassian background story there is no reason at all to spend such a huge amout of ECs.
If you're referring to the 1% weapon proc, you're settings are wrong:
Actually that is not true. The green boxes will be available for sale on the exchange for quite some time to come and the keys will remain for sale on the exchange and in the C Store probably forever.
I myself have 250 green boxes stored on an Alt that I don't use.
And you'll probably get one Galor out of those 250... (my fleet has a bank page ful of 10 stack of boxes.) I also dont have the cash to just continue buying keys to get a galor (or 2 if I want to fully out fit my Odyssey with the beams...), and as I said before I dont have the luck. So once the boxes go away and the prices on the Galors on the exchange skyrocket I'll never be able to get it. True, its not like the bug ship, where its gonna go away forever... but its almost the same result.
