Is Viral Matrix useful?

I used to think it was, but now Im not too sure. Ive had it ever since I started and I use it in tandem with Tykens III to make sure they are stuck in there. Would Tractor Beam do a better job and be more versatile?

VM woul dbe much better it if could knock shields offline, as it is now, you use it as a disable, so TR out shines it.

Ok thanks. And what about rank of Tractor Beam? Is I good enough or would I need III to stop escorts/BoP?

Most Escorts, BoPs have Attack Pattern Omega, which ignores tractor beams, and don't forget Polerise Hull which is good for PVP escorts.

Also Jam Sensors, and a lucky Heavy Graviton Beam will shut down a Tractor beam.

I use a tractor beam. Works well for PvE. For PvP i don't use it immediatly. Wait for them to finish their Omega, etc and use it after the fact when they're on cooldown. Even if the Rift is gone, using the tractor when they don't have a defense ready is goodly.

Yes, it works fairly well. Polaron weapons and a Flow Capacitor or two can do the job too. Or even Target: Engine.

I love Viral Matrix III, but that's mostly because my goal as a sci ship captain is "annoy pvpers as much as possible."

I use VM to set the player for a SubNuc.
