Which I still think is absolute BS, but it seems like no one agrees with me. I hate that I can't give myself the same speed buff that I can give to other people. Total ripoff.

Um, can they not give the speed buff to you as well, provided they also have DI? You may just need better friends.

The Odyssey's slipstream does throw the numbers. Some quick figures on its ideal average:

Borg: 23.92 (22.724)
MACO: 21.927 (20.332)
Omega: 19.95 (16.63)
Stock: 16.633 (13.98)
Base: 13.333 (11.976)

Figures in parentheses are my non-Oddy numbers from before

So it doesn't change the set rankings, but it is an across the board improvement in speed.

Of course, it's more difficult to actually get that ideal - advanced silpstream will cross most sector blocks with driver coils maxed, and you'll have to cancel it more often to make turns, but you can't actually reach any of these ideals so improvement's still improvement.

Not sure about those numbers. With maxed out skills and with Borg engines my Galaxy Class can hit 27.93 without doff buffs and 34.90 in slipstream. Escorts seem slower though.

But Borg engines are certainly the best you can get for free, and with visuals off they don't look silly either.

*hmm, seems like every time I check my speed it's a bit different so I give up More than fast anyway to make doffing around the galaxy bearable.

I think 34.9 is consistent with 9/9 driver coils and diplomatic immunity, have to check my numbers on that. Somebody probably gave you the buff while you were running around, a lot of doffers do that, especially around Klingon space, which would cover why you get different numbers when you look again. I didn't bother figuring in DI or the doff assignment buff, since you can't control either one yourself.

Actually, that's note quite true. While Slipstream speed isn't affected by the engine's maximum warp speed or other stats, since the MACO engine actually increases your Driver Coil skill, Slipstream with a MACO engine is actually slightly higher. I'm not in game to check right now, but it's something like warp 30.34. I don't think it's a big enough difference to change the order of the engines in your list though.

Completely overlooked this.

Taking stats off STOwiki, the speeds on the mk X MACO should be 18.468 warp and 30.37 slipstream, which gives an average speed of 20.8484 instead of 20.332.
