Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to read this thread.

I am (relatively) new to this game and so would like the opinion of some longer term players on something that has been "niggling" me for a couple of day.

So here's the deal. I'm in Ker'rat in my BoP.

Now before I go any further, please don't ask for my build, I'm an ex EVE player and as such have an in-built reluctance to give out any kind of useful intelligence to potential opponents. Suffice to say that in the 2 months or so that I've been going into that zone the only ships I have encountered that I couldn't kill on my first pass could be easily finished off on my second. It may well not be the most ideal build but it has certainly been effective on every other occasion.

So anyway, I'm in Ker'rat and, with the help of a fellow KDF player in a Raptor, have finished clearing out the inevitable Fed spawn camp with one notable exception. All that is left is one guy in an Oddy +1. Now I have to admit I was very remiss and did not check to see which flavour of +1 he was in. I know I saw a pet escort and I assume he was a Sci capt as I saw (what I believe to be) Photonic Fleet active.

Well try as we might we could not kill this one ship. With the two of us working in a concerted fashion nothing we could do could reduce the guy's health to 0. Don't think for a second that we made a couple of failed passes or did something stupid like going at him 1 by 1, we tried a whole heap of different tactics. Nothing worked.

Every single time he was able to either kill us both or, at the very least, kill the raptor and force me to recloak until the other guy could respawn.

I tried killing his pets to reduce the incoming damage to us both (and put them on CD) but that didn't work either.

Repeatedly the two of us tried and, to quote Dune...

"They tried and failed?"

"They tried and died!"

So my question to you guys is, is this the norm? Is it to be expected that two pilots working in a concerted, combined manner can have no hope of taking down a single cruiser pilot?

We came quite close on one occasion but still both died before we could get rid of that last couple of mm of HP bar.

Edit: If it helps - additional things I noticed were he used RSP and I saw the greenish-hued ability that looks a bit like EPtS and which I have subsequently been informed is the Borg shield proc.

Yes this is normal. Frankly Kerrat is full of very bad players. Here and there a real pvp player will stop by kerrat... (now don't throw stones I get that Kerrat is open PvP I lived there for over a year). Really though these days its full of AFK feds that are not there too pvp and have nothing even close too proper builds.

Honesty if the cruiser is built properly no a bop + raptor team will not take him out with out a lucky crit... I have no doubt your build is fine, just fyi though unlike games like EVE, the STO combat log reports all your healing and all your dmg... and I can parse my log anytime I want and tell you what your build is. (just saying)

The honest answer is... the player in question probaly wasn't one of the really gifted STO PvP players... most likely he was stacking 4 +35 shield units which are bugged at the momment and are not intended too stack.

Thats Ker'rat for you...

BTW, you might want to shake that EvE thing... You won't get much help around here if you dont release your build upon request...

No one can seal it from you, no one can loot it from you, and only if you go into PvP can you get attacked by tohers...

It's not like your build is unique, after the skills have been dumbed down.

I think it's funny in Ker'rat when cruiser pilots (Especially +1 cruiser pilots) act like they're so good because it took 3-4 opponents to bring them down. "Wow, it took 4 Klingons to kill me, lol." and the like. I just chuckle at their stupidity.

You're a CRUISER, it SHOULD take several guys to take you down, otherwise you SUCK at being a cruiser! And BTW, how many of us did you kill in the process? Oh that's right, none. Congrats. . .

/Rant

Um, yeah, you're fine, you're just used to killing the lamer cruiser pilots. A good cruiser shouldn't be taken down by 2 ships. And a dedicated tank (especially with the stacking field gens) should be able to take at LEAST 3-4.

Like I was saying most fed cruisers in Kerrat are TERRIBLE... there is a chance that cruiser had more shields then normal due to bugged consul stacking however...

Transfer Shield Strength 2
Emergency Power to Shield 3
Hazards 1
Aux to Sif 3
One copy of RSP
3 Shield Distro Doffs
Tac Team
3 Piece Borg Set

Even without bugged units... if that was the defensive turtle build you where trying too kill, you didn't have enough dps.

Ditto. I mean it's been said by others but Kerrat and the game in general is full of just terrible builds floating around.

If you want to take down a good cruiser which has been set up properly, you pretty much gotta bring a party.
