Unless they can change the mechanics of Bfaw to not originate from the target first, then the issue will most likely remain. Evidently the Devs can not make Bfaws AoE work like CSV or TSV.
Nor does it seem can they code the ability to ignore Cloaked targets in regards to point of origin when the power is activated.
Otherwise you may need to revisit your build for ideas on how to buff your resists for both shields and Hull.

You cant stay in battle for more than 5 seconds because a single hit from a faw adept escort with no target selected will vanish one of your facing shields entirely.

This is pretty much how it goes down. It's just a matter of having FAW up whenever possible. And the most aggravating aspect of it is that they don't even need to know you're there.

And to say that the use of FAW is due to pet spam is a joke. You work that one out yourself.

And you can have twice the above number in shields except when your coming out of cloak you have....oh that's right. None. And defense counts for nothing so we're looking at just hull resists. In short any BOP decloaking into active FAW is going to take a beating.

TIP: Don't decloak into active FAW spam. Seriously that's all there is to it. You're in cloak to evaluate your targets and the battle situation. If you don't take a minute to see what abilities your opponents are running that's gonna go down as a failure on your part.

Lets not kid anyone... people don't run faw too take care of pets... or they would switch over too it like people do with CSV. lol
Well perhaps also cause there is no beam rapid fire... honesty with the massive arcs beam weapons have... I have no idea why one skill needs too do both. I am coming around too the beam rapid fire idea... and remove AOE from beams all together... leave that to CSV and Torp spread now that its usable.

People run faw cause faw is busted. Plain and simple. Will it still be busted after this next latest version... who knows.

After New Faw™ had been changed, almost everyone abandoned FAW. It only started resurfacing after klingon pet spam became a massive problem again with the tachyon and energy syphon drones.

In my experience with FAW there are a few things you can rely on.

FAW will not begin to fire w/o a selected target in range unless a visible or "ghost" enemy is actually on your screen.

FAW will continue to fire at any target in the same arcs as your primary target until the power expires, or fire at all targets in all arcs if no primary target is selected, regardless of whether you are looking or not. This is where cloaked ships come in. If you get close enough at this point that a ghost image would be visible to me if I were looking, my FAW will still get you. So cloaked ships will only be hit if they remain close while faw is in use.

Now, I have been known to zoom out as far as I can so that I have a 360 degree view and can "detect" ghost images all around me... Honestly, at this zoom they are easy to miss with your eye, but FAW will get them if the ghost image appears for even a split second.

Faw came back when the idea that it hit 100% of the time resurfaced. If it was used just for clearing spam we would see the amount of FAW all the time that we see when it's known to be broken. Just like any other skill Cryptic breaks, FBP, FAW version 2, TS3, MACO shields, Jem shields, stackable field gens, etc, the usage of said broken skill goes through the roof. Players make the claims of "I've always used it" and then magically when it's no longer broken the "I've always used it" crowd either stops using it or vanishes from PVP all together until the next broken skill shows up.

Well it seems that all they need do now is make the Tachyon and siphon drones less durable and all will be well.

yay goodbye fawscorts...I'll still be using faw on my cruiser as I always have though.
