I'd like to think that question to be a little above the typical newbie question, as it comes up a bit further into the game...

Simply put, do people here set up a 'favourite' bridge crew and ship loadout and be done with it, creating something like a one-for-all-purposes fitting or do they adapt to situations (and possibly enemies) encountered?

For example, when encountering opponents which are particularly resilient to torpedoes, do you switch out your tactical officer in favour of someone who is especially good with beam weapons? Implying the fact that you've got more than a skeleton crew on your BOff roster to man the stations twice over... Would it be even worth to do it or would it be too impractical to keep a reserve crew/loadout around?

Or do you simply stick to what you have and hope it'll make do?

It's very difficult to manage at earlier levels as you don't have the points to spare but I do keep a reserve roster of Boffs with varying space skills for circumstantial use. My away team, however, generally remains unchanged.

Specialized spare Boffs are handy sometimes. Especially on a BoP, where there are many viable combinations due to the universal slots. And battle-cloak can help finding a safe spot to switch. Too bad I can't save/load presets. I have a layout for PvP, PvE-AoE, and one against especially annoying Sci captains.

Like the above poster, I have a specific away team setup, and they don't change.

Once I get to VA, my various alts like to be in different ships for different reasons, and require different BOff setups. For instance, my main Fed Tac generally flies an Excelsior in PUG PvP, a Fleet Escort in STFs and the MVAE just for fun. Each has its own BO setup with some of the BOs overlapping. Along the way, I've outfitted him in the Defiant Retrofit, two other cruisers and even a science ship. Each has different BO layouts.

I think that this particular alt has about 16 BOs, and I'm never opposed to adding one to the list as special event ones are released and prove useful.

I generally set up what works best for the ship in question and stick with it.

The way I set up my Assault Cruiser I only ever change the Sci Officer and that's between Solo and STF. Heck Solo with STF one is fine but I prefer the other one it seems a bit quicker and more fun. I also have a Healer Sci officer just in case.

But the Tac and Eng stations never change.

My Away team stays the same, for my ships I have a boff set-up for each: my escort runs cannons, so cannon spec Tac boff; my Oddy is a beam boat, so beam spec Tac boff ; my Dread runs beams so I share some The different ships have different numbers of stations and different levels of rank ... took me a bit to get what I wanted at which rank for which ship

I run the same weapons on my ships and keep the same tactical consoles but will switch out other gear, mainly hull - if I'm going against Borg I run electroceramic hull platings, Klingon I swap to Disruptor resistant hull plating, etc.
