It seems like every STF I enter into in the past week has been filled with at least 1 or 2 noobs, not listening to team plans and ruining matches for people... like not just 1 or 2 a day... I play for several hours in a row, and 95% of them, particularly in space, any map, people are just messing up... it's getting quite ridiculous.

I was in IGE for the first time. _I_ made it the worst STF experience.

I've done IGN many times, and didn't know about some basic stuff (like trigger lines) because nobody had ever explained them. We just... moved through. Sometimes we got the optional, most times we didn't. Ok.

Yeah, I was a complete drag to the team, but it didn't help that the 'boss' of the group was snippy with me through the entire match.

Then I discovered that the final room doesn't have bridges. ... oh f me. I hate jumping. HATE JUMPING. I said 'wait, elite mode has no bridges?' and got some snide 'no s*t' comments in return.

I died a bunch and eventually just quit, feeling completely useless and embarrassed. (In retrospect, the leader, knowing I was new to the game mode, should have kept me on center duty)

What did I take away from it? I'm never doing ground STFs again. Simple. Way too much stress for minimal reward. Really, I was only doing them for fun and the off-chance of finally getting a helmet.
Space is easy and rewarding. If I want ground gear, I'll just use EDC from space and be done with it.

Why don't people want to win?! Space elite STF's are sooo easy if you just do what you're supposed to do! No, you DON'T nuke the generators. You get them to 10%. And then you DON'T GO AND NUKE THEM ON THE OTHER SIDE AGAIN! You just don't. It's like sabotaging a run on purpose!

And yes! You do keep your ship repaired! You wouldn't go ride your car without oil and ignore it, would you? So why do you insist on flying your spaceship with PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING BROKEN. You blow up a lot? Well guess how that happens! Might it have something to do with shield damage? Hull stress and breaches? Nooooo, that can't be it! It must be that everyone else sucks and isn't healing enough. And I guess with all that damage to your ship you'll certainly help everyone a lot by firing your broken rainbow DPS. Yes, THAT'LL HELP A LOT.

And why do people insist on ignoring the BoP's in Cure? Thank God I don't have to run that STF anymore because I got all I want from it. Because GOOD GRIEF, people, it's not THAT HARD to kill the BoP THAT WAS JUST FLYING PAST YOU. What, you purposefully ignored it because your tiny bit of DPS was better wasted shooting some generators so you can create more spawn which you'll also ignore so that, OF COURSE, the Kahn blows up, AGAIN!? And NOOOO, let's CERTAINLY not communicate! NoooOOOhh! We don't want anybody to know that we've just spawned Negh'var warships, do we? It's not like we're ACTUALLY A TEAM HERE, right? Noo! We're all on our own! And as long as NOBODY KNOWS that there's a Negh'var and 3 raptors going towards the Kahn everything is just HONKYDORY right?!

NOT to even mention the probes in Kithomer. There was a bunch of probes flying past me? I thought someone else was supposed to shoot those while I blindly went and got blown up by a cube ALL THE BLOODY TIME, and then COMPLETELY IGNORE the whole idea of blowing up both gates in tandem, because WE ALL LOVE SPAWNS don't we?! If possible, we'd all just want to kill spawns ALL THE BLOODY TIME right?! I mean, that's why we learned to NUKE THE GENERATORS in Infected right? It's not as if we're actually trying to WIN! That would be preposterous! If possible we'd all just want to keep killing spawns for the rest of the day! And because STF's are so FREAKING easy, it's best if we bring sub-tier4 ships! And lots of silly mines! And rainbows! Shiny shiny rainbows! Another freaking skittle boat! And YES! It can't even heal! It can't DO ANYTHING!

And how is it even possible that every day there are people who AGAIN don't know what to do? Is the supply of ineptitude literally endless? Was Einstein right when he said that human stupidity is infinite? Is it impossible to learn WHILE failing instead of just KEEP ON FAILING? It's like one of those babies trying to fit a triangular shaped block through a circular shaped hole! If it doesn't work, why KEEP going on doing the same? If NUKING the generators got you scolded last time, what would be a good idea to do now? YES, NUKE MORE GENERATORS! It's FUN! WE WANT MORE SPAWN!

Cryptic, please make a tutorial where people have to get all generators to 10% before they're allowed to get out again. Or make it a vote-kick option, call it space-ship purgatory. Perhaps then stupidity can be purged.

Edit: Actually, I'm not all that ragey. I wrote that pretty much chuckling at the banality of it all the time. And there are plenty of times and people out there who can REALLY make an STF run a lot of fun. THANK YOU! to all the competent players who took time to learn how to do STF's.

Are you actually trying to HELP them? Or are you just trash talking to them? My own experience when I was new to elite STFs involved someone at the beginning of the mission asked if everyone was aware of the 10% rule, me saying "no," and nobody filling me in. Once the mission began I was only being called names and swore at by the other players.

Enough with the "noob" hate. You were new once. Actually HELP them instead of complaining about them.

Being fairly new myself I haven't had too many terrible experiences. I only pug the stfs I've trained with my fleet for (cure and infected with an accidental ka ground elite due to a team set up snafu - still got the optional somehow). Because of this I stick to following the lead of the team. That doesn't always work, though. Especially when the team splits up in infected space after taking down the cube and triggers both sets of nate probes and spheres. Thank god I had my graviton pulse equipped because I was working double time to keep them contained (to be fair, when I said I needed help, i got it from one of the teammates). I did notice our lone ranger was firing all rainbows and after the match I sent him a pm asking if it was his first run. He said it was and I went over what I knew with him, gave him the tips I had been given and offered to pug with him in the future. It went really well. I guess that is bad and good. That same good/bad happened in an infected ground (ive believe it was infected). Before we even got a quarter of the way we lost one (of course I'm not sure if it was a disconect it not). Then just before we could finish the final boss (after 6 attempts) we lost another. This is where it was good, though we were down to 3, we still tried 3 more times. It was a full hour and a half of fighting a losing battle but I gained a friend out of it and we both got pretty good at the mission. We didnt suffer a penalty either when we finally gave up. So I guess what I got out of it was to help the new folks and to not leave too soon.

Question for the veteran players: In infected space normal, was there a time when there wasn't a Borg Sphere hanging above the Transformers?

So, I was bored out of my mind (which is not surprising in STO for the past year), so I thought 'What the hell...I'll do an STF."

So my first mistake was not leaving right as it began...a full team of tacs...I even stated that I felt concern about the lack of diversity in the group, but we came to the assumption that, with luck, our dps would out do any issues.

So we pave the map, killing all the borg spawns and challenges with ease (well maybe doing the shield puzzles 2-3 times each).

Then the random drop team bug hit us all and we tried to get our team together. Only 4/5 instantly got back to the team...the 5th one didn't even answer in zone until 20 minutes after this bug...and he actually just happened to walk to the boss where we were...he didn't even answer and tells, etc.

So....the Boss fight...I started off telling the team we had to make sure we spread out and lookout for his AoE. No one replies. I thought everyone was just gettin prepped...so right as the fight starts all of them group together and die instantly....I go 'wth was that? I stated to look out for his AoE' No reply again. So rinse and repeat this about 10 times (eventually that last member got to us...but kept denying team invites). And in the process one of the members kept pm'n me that he was confused as hell to as to why the rest wasn't folling the basic setup for this STF.

Eventually I just exploded in rage.....hey you guys weren't there saying something like "Are you guys even trying??? I keep telling you to look out for the damn AoE..and you just walk right next to each other each time. What are you people doing???"

One of them finally went "lol," and that's when I said "Really...? Lol !?" How is this even funny? Do you even read any guides or God forbid, listen?" Another 'lol' and a troll post which made me happily ignore sadi member later I said "Well sorry, hope you guys have fun, but I'm out of here. No point in trying with you people. The leaver penality shall be worth it."

So myself and the other member that at least pm'd me earlier stating how the others were annoying him too, left.

.....I recieved no leaver penalty...

Moral of the story: I should give up on STF's...it's like this ever sinse the "update" to them...got borg tech on 2/4 characters, an aegis on 1/4 and reman on 1/4. Oh well, that's my tale.

The worst are always where one guy decides he is the king-daddy, and everyone else are noobs. He begins shouting or name calling or whining about what a fail team he is on. The next worse are those that bail just because they are unhappy with whatever they perceive as a fail situation.
