# 1 Assault Cruiser Builds?
03-28-2012, 09:06 PM
A long time from now, I'll be getting myself an Assault Cruiser. However, I do not know any builds that would work for a tactical officer like myself. Any good ones out there for a tactical captain of an Assault Cruiser?

Links to threads about individual builds would be helpful.

Actually, if there isn't a board with all of the builds for Eng/Sci/Tac builds for all the T5 ships, shouldn't we make one?

there is a build set for this ship listed in this forum i believe its called dragon ship. Basically 6-8 beams with 1 torp forward/back if you chose that. If you look that post up its not far back it will answer most of your questions.

Cannons: http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=256974

I know the threads are for dreads. But an assault cruiser is just a faster turning dread without a lance, so withered of these builds will work.

@Cyell: links not working, giving the Error 404 message.

Anyhow, the dragon build looks amazing, but it seems to require you to have a specific skill point allocation. I was hoping to command both a Fleet Escort and an Assault Cruiser. Possibly some other ships down the road as well.

Is the skill allocation good for Escorts as well?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure which skill allocation you're looking at so the best I can do is give you some generalizations.

As long as you're not jumping into a science based vessel, you should be safe putting most of your points down the engineering and tactical skill trees. You can probably unlock most of your skills by putting 6 points in most of the generalist skills (weapon training, hull integrity) and still have a few points left over. After that, you'll just have to decide if you'd rather have more of a tank or more damage.

Personally, I prefer to run the Assault cruiser as a tank. It performs very well in this role and the skills will transfer to the fleet escort fairly well (being the Eng based escort).

You can't really go wrong with a general skill layout like: http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skil...uild=Example_0

There are still points left over, which allows you to specialize however you want.

One thing I would like to warn you about though... don't max out threat control unless you plan on taking on a tanking role and sticking with it. I've seen far to many people max out the skill and get ripped apart in STFs.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the help!

It looks like my shopping list got bigger... I'll need a respec, more BOff slots (so I can command both the Fleet Escort and the Assault Cruiser), more good BOffs, more/better gear, the Assault Cruiser itself...........

EDIT: Oh, and I'll also need to decide which ship to focus on in PVP/STFs, since I'd need to build my skills around that.

Also, should I use the respec before or after I hit lev 50?
