# 1 Selling stuff the right way...

Hello people,

over the last few days, i kind of recognized many disappointed people when it comes to the C-Stor policy. First there were the lockboxes and the GAlor, then there was the Oddessy-relase.

i totally understand the problems with the Galors, and its just a big gamble on something, you just "want but don't need. Even as i understand the frustration of the most people, i understand, why realsing stuff and running kind of a lottery is a good thing for Cryptic and the game.

But after that, we had another issue, that was splitting the community even more. The Oddessy. Pay 50$ for the new flagship? Thats kind of a hard decission, (at least for those of us with low income like pupils or students). 50$, that is the price of new video game. These are 3 month of gold membership, or 4 month of dilithium grinding. So there has been a lot of frustration, anger and disccusions gogin on, and many people have done this math already.

So my suggestion is, to give people more then just "in-Game"-items for there money. Give them some sort of DLC and exlusive stuff, when they decide to invest money in the game. Give people a "lasting" pay-off.

For example, when it comes to the Oddesy, the pack should not only include the cruiser itself, but maybe a short story arc on the development of the cruiser. You have done such a mission on the release of the "free birthday-flagship", so why didn't you do something like that for the PREMIUM ship. Maybe put a little title and a "Oddessy Development Badge" as additional bonus in it. (You already designed it, so let us wear it on our uniforms). And as a final goodie, you could have add an exlusive daily mission to the game. Name it "Show federations flag", give it the usual 20h downtime and reward players with 480 additinol dilithium units, when they complete the star clusters with an Oddessy.

in my opinion, such changes and goodies won't effect the balance of the game, BUT you always remind players that they GET something special that lasts, even when the next PREMIUM ship is released.

The most important thing in the game is content, not items. When players PAY, give them both. Give them the shiny item, but also give them content and something to do. Maybe you remind these suggestion, when it comes to further C-Store-releases...

.
But you have to remember, buying C-Points isn't 'Pay to Win', its 'Pay to be Impatient'...

With the Dilithium Exchange, its entirely possible to purchase the Odyssey package, as well as other C-Store items using in-game resources...

(This is what i did for the Odyssey package, as back in January, I started building up my Dilithium & C-Point positions in anticipation of the new ship releases...)

Indeed, it's about patience and that little greedy gremlin that tells us, that we NEED it now...

And thats the problem...

Exactly there...

People want!!! and they usually belive they NEED, and when they got it, they soon realize that there was no NEED at all. Just another shabby cruiser, that can't mess with the DPS-Escort they already own...

It's not about clever investment, like you did. most people ain't capable of that, not in real life neither in online games and most companies benefit from that.

The only thing I ask, is to create a real incentive to get that "other shabby cruiser", give it a reason to be in the game. It's not only about bragging rights, that I can afford a premium item. Its about keeping people satisfied over a longer time. It's about customer care, and showing the players, they ARE important, and you get something special for your money. At the moment you get a new ship, but it changes nothing to the game expierence itself. You get a "better" cruiser, but to be honest, it doesn't change/influence your game expierence at all. And in my opinion, also doing a lot of moitarization came to the opinion, that you don't want to upset people that buy once, but you want them to buy a second or a third time.

Thats why I am suggesting, that a C-store purchase should, at least when its that expensive, effect your personal game expierence. if it doesn't do that, most people are gonna be upset with it, and maybe regret that purchase later on. And as far as I know, when sombody gets angry at you, its hard to sell him an additional premium item.

And to make this perfectly clear. This topic isn't supposed to be another thread, were somebody that can't or Won't spend the money on the pack as it is, is whining about that fact. It#s some sort of buissness advice frome someone, who already has been in that position, how to keep the game alive for a long time.

(excuse my poor English, please. I just hope I could get some sense in this.)
