Bops are on the ground in a few missions of sto...you saw them in atmospheric flight in ds9...and one was landed on Vulcan in the older trek movies.

Don't forget Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home were Kirk and crew landed a BoP in 20th century San Francisco.

The real, real answer is that landing is generally a wasted special effects shot. Just beam down and save the cool shots for a space battle.
