# 1 Feature / change to shields.

I had an idea for a change to shields an this is it.

On the ground you have flanking for extra damage an a weak spot. This is good and its a great mechanic too.

But in space we have nothing like that. My suggestion is to have shield facing have varried HP values, the most being the front, 2nd being the sides and the last being the rear an it being the weakest. That being said since others have different play styles and would want a different shield being strongest. have it click to transfer strength to choose the strongest and the adjacent shields being second strongest, and have the farthest away being weakest, have it like an ability that can be toggled on an off by clicking on the facing you want it on, similar to our reinforce shield facing abilities, but a lil diff.

I don`t expect it to be an instant change, just an idea to create weak points in shields with out nerfing anything at all. It would create the need for strategey in space like it does on the ground, a need to protect a weak point.

incase there are some that don`t understand what Im saying here at all.. is this

ex. forward shields having 8000 hp, side shields having 6500 hp, and rear having 4500 hp.
ex. forward shields 6500 hp, starbord shield 8000, port shield 4500, an rear shield 6500 hp.
This is a selective power Im suggesting, not a permanet change.

I don't like this idea, at the rate that Escort's move and turn, this would just nerf them, unless we had some sort of console that automatically applies the changes to whatever side is receiving the most damage. Forgetting what I said, just consider this:
1. This would require a large core engine upgrade (from what I can tell)
2. We already have enough to deal with. Balancing shields and ability's already overwhelms most people.
3. This would be an annoyance to most players.
4. This drags further away from 'Cannon' Star Trek.
5. Working on this would take a large chunk out of developer's time, slowing down work on S6 and the likes.

Just my opinion

~With the Damager per Second (DPS) and the Damage per Volley (DPV) that the Escorts already put out in this game, along with how maneuverable Escorts already are, your suggested change would force everyone to play the Escort Class. Think about that for a minute or two or several. Let it sink in!

~Now, a better idea, one that isnít mine, I forgot whoís to credit with it, would be to have players be able toggle too auto-distribute shields to whatever facing they want. In that way, they would no longer have to continuously press the button to re-distribute shields to aft shielding, only press the down arrow on the keyboard to toggle the re-distribution or shields to aft. Then, simply press the down arrow again to turn it off.

~Real easy, real useful.

umm hate to burst your bubble hereer but you can already distribut shield strength with the arrow buttons.

Might it help you if I defined the word toggle for you and/or the concept of a toggle switch?

Concept: In its most basic form, a toggle switch usually has an ON and OFF mode.

The point to a toggle-switch like style is that youíd only have to press the button once, to turn on the re-distribute feature, whereas it would continually re-distribute shields until you press the toggle button again or release the toggle switch.

I donít understand how you didnít grasp that concept unless you donít grasp the concept of a toggle button/switch.

my apologies, must have missed that while reading in a hurry. Yes this idea would be awesome but I think there should be a timer on when you push the toggle button so while your fighing don't have to wory about pushing the button again so have it cut about what 5 seconds? I think if they add this feature it may change how shield power works in the game? When in combat pve of pvp shild power never goes down unless of course changing the power levels or someone is draining shield power.

The reason why there is exploit damage in the ground is because YOU have blind spots, there are NO blind spots on a ship as far shields are concerned, there might be blind spots in terms of weapon coverage.

This whole idea is bad because its based on the notion they would DELIBERATE create faulty designs.

Stop trying to add LOL Ground to Space.

I love the tactical changes of having different shield power at different facings. Klingons should have BA fore shields.... for obvious reasons.

I`m sorry if you all hate the idea of this in space, but it has been employed in almost every star trek game from star trek bridge commander with varrying shield strengths, and with star trek command games with shield facings you could choose to amplify, and a haveing a limited amount of room for what shields you could get on some ships.

I`m also assumming you enjoyed such games on some level and the mechanics within them, I`m just suggesting a change, something like someone earlier stated, that could be toggled on an off, it would be similar to those games and create strategy in space.
