I am experimenting with an escort build that relies mainly on torpedo damage. The idea is to use a fast and agile ship so you can deliver the heavy packages, heavy plasma and/or tricobalt, deploying mines right on the enemy's doorstep.
With an escort you have also access to torpedo high yield II or III, spread II or III and the dispersal patterns. I have now one set up with in front the Harpeng torpedo, the one with speed and turn debuff, aft I have a plasma and a mine launcher.
Does anyone has any experince with such a setup? I am also figuring what kind of secundary weapons I should use.
Off course you should have all the possible Doff that lower your CD on torpedo firing, so you can bombard your enemy with it.
Also, I have shield set to 100%, engines on 50%, the rest on 25%. Actual settings are higher because I have skilled all system powers.

How are you going to bypass shields in PvP?
Torpedoes do very low damage to shields, if enemy is familiar with Tac Team and/or keybinded shield distribution, and is using standard Boff skills skie TSS or EPTS, he will tank you forever.
On top of that torpedoes have global 3s cooldown (and, for exampe, harp'pengs and tricobalsts, have even longer global cooldowns - 10s and 30s), so even if you have 4 Quantums, they have similar DPS to 2 quantums...
Game definitely do not support torpedo boat builds much.

Torps have a 2sec global btw, not 3.
Torps build work on 2 types of ships, Sci and BoP. if not in either of these you really need energy weapons.
You could try the Defiant Retrofit with Quantum + THY3, Breen Transphasic Cluster, H'Peng then a Tricobalt. Hopefully the first two sets of torps will bring down the shields (some of the escort builds I've seen actually have no Tac Teams) and you score a crit with the tricobalt. If they turned up their graphics, they might not even see you and hopefully you can disengage to cloak.
But unlike the B'Rel, you don't get the Tactical Readiness buff from a 2 piece KHG set. And no cloaking in combat either. Not to mention a Bio-neural warhead in place of the Tricobalt. BOPs have universal BOff stations as well. If you can't kill them on the first run... there's always 60s later
