OP, it seems like everyone, their brother, and their dog wants to play a tactical officer in a cruiser and play at more survivable DPS. To be honest, the game simply isn't built to allow you to maximize your potential that way. You'll NEVER tank or heal as well as an engineer in a cruiser, nor DPS as well as you would in an escort. Don't let me dissuade you from just having fun with it though as min maxing isn't everything. Just understand what you are getting into first so that you don't come away feeling disspointed. Make sure you've a friend that can train bridge officer abilities for the engineering slots to help you or you're in trouble right at the start...
A GX with a Tac Captain, running 3DHC/1Q and 4Turrets with good use of the Lance will get very close to the Escort in terms of DPS, with about 5x the survivabilty.
Aceton Beam is an enemy Debuff, I'm using it to reduce the damage I take when I tank a cube.
If anything I'm thinking of losing the DEM because I've respecced so I have Flow Capacitors & More accuracy so shield facings disapear.
The other thing I considered is a Frontal DBB to replace a BA to get more kick on the way in. But I think to do that I need to drop the rear torpedo. That also looks to swap the Quantum for the Harg'peng and the TS2 for BO2.

Look at a parser after an ESFT, and you will notice that DEM &/or AB will rack up about 20k damage, sound good? Think again, the damage from just my phasers (Cruiser), over the same ESTF will be about 3.0million, literally DEM and AB don't even show on the graph.
In my Cmd End slot, I run A2SiF3, this same level ability as your AB3, will heal me for 200k in the same STF, umm 20k dmg, or 200k healing? Sounds to be like one is literally 10x better than the other!
Your points for AB don't discuss the actual reason he says he has taken AB, which is namely the amount of damage (or spike damage) he prevents with it.
He didn't mention taking it for the damage aspect at all, so your points don't actually address his statement at all.
Do you have calculations on how much damage it can prevent to compare to the healing numbers of Aux to SIF3?
