I did increase my Doff crew by 25 as I was finding some great ways to increase my bankroll through the Doff system that translated into being able to buy C-Store merchandise off the exchange for EC.

I did buy the yellowstone shuttle so I could sell the engine for 15 million EC on the exchange before they made it bound. The EC was used to buy a Galor from the exchange.

All paid for with free dilithium of course.

I have 625,000 refined dilithium saved up. (Over 2,000 CP worth).

I point out these facts to emphasise that F2P for me is just as advertised.

P.S. My main flies the Free Odyssey. The Science one in the C-Store would be nice, but I don't need it. I have two unopened Galors and I never bought a master key from the C store to get them.

I have not yet decided if I want to get a D'Kor, but if I do I will buy it from the exchange.
inventory/bank/money
that is all. everything else is junk.

3) outright scamming of players of their money (Tier3/Tier5 Excelsior debacle)
4) openly stated unwillingness to invest in more KDF content
5) regular server crashes, indicating they are not skimping on resources in the back-end
6) 3 lockboxes in less than 4 months of F2P operation
7) reliance on lengthy STF grinds to achieve the highest gear, so as to maximally extend the "usefulness" of what content they have
8) minimal evidence of hiring new staff in the 6+ months since the PWE acquisition
9) total abandonment of development on the STO foundry, shifting all those employees to develop the foundry for their NWN MMO (BIG indication right here)

Need I go on?
2) The raising of prices in C-store is expected, I don't know if it's a wise business move, but they need to make money just to keep this game going.

4) They said they're unwilling to make a lot of KDF content (not they won't make KDF content period), which they do have good reason for. Morally is it right? That's debatable, but from a business perspective, I see their reasoning.

5) They've been adding in stability fixes nearly every patch, they can't just will that servers not crash and it be done. These things are not easy, and they are trying.

6) They're trying to figure out new ways to make money in this new model. While this isn't good, it could be a lot, lot worse. See: Rappelz, 12sky2, Megaten, ********, 2moons, and a few dozen others if you believe that this sort of thing is a horrible thing in the F2P community. Most of those games will break your wallet just so you can get to max level.

7) This is common to virtually all F2P MMO's, the only valid complaint in regards to the grind is the randomness of it.

8) You don't need more staff if you don't have the capacity to use them. We don't know that they have that capacity even. For example, would you hire 10 batters if you only have one bat? You'll never be able to put all of those assets to use, and as such, it's just a waste of money. In fact, it can be a hindrance. Not enough is known about the Cryptic and PWE situation financially to guess as to whether they should be hiring or not.

9) You are flat out incorrect on this one, I don't wish to sound rude, but you should really research these things prior to making claims. http://www.stowiki.org/Upcoming_cont...Foundry_assets

Overall, I simply do not agree with you. Your point is valid, and I respect your opinion, but I don't believe we have any reason to believe they're just trying to milk every last ounce out of us and then dump us. That's an unwise business decision, and clearly, your evidence is less than certain.

I hope you don't take what I'm saying as rude, I fully respect your opinion and it is yours to have. I just believe you're being a little hard on Cryptic.

then a cryptic staff member plays through them to insure there is nothing story wise that conflicts, and assigns them a Hall Of Fame tag.

any mission that achieves hall of fame status then goes into a list of missions that are to be ported out of foundry and integrated into the game, and given some rewards etc for completion in line with a mission like alpha.

the author receives a special title, some dilithium and gets to name an npc in a social zone.
I'd change this up a little bit. Naming an NPC in a social zone would be cool, and Dilithium is cool, but how about instead they get 4,000 or so C points (which they can then trade for loads of Dilithium, or grab stuff in the cstore)? Also, I'd add a minimum amount of plays to the missions -- say, 2,000.

The only thing that I think needs added upon to this idea, is rewards for the mission. The best I can think of, is all of the exp stuff, and then pure Dilithium. But that is in the end the only reason we even need these added to the official game -- to give good rewards. Otherwise people can just play them in the community authored tab.

Before F2P, Capt Geko explicitly stated ... So a some people (myself not included as I am not interested in the Excelsior) went out and bought the T5 Excelsior before F2P to take advantage, since the T3 would change to be a pay-only ship.
Yes but you still brought the T5 version, the fact they gone back is something everyone should expected because they were pretty much giving a ship away and as much I would have agreed the Excelsior should always be a "bundle" (as the T5 have no console) the fact is the Excelsior T5 is just too good even without a console.

The T3 was not unlocked by owning the T5, it was available in game before being taken away as a C-Shop option but a lot of things are taken away, like the Wrath of Khan uniforms were, since the code was the same, they just allowed everyone to have it, now its C-Shop.

Excuse me but this reminds me of the Yellowstone Engine were people lost no time in taking then off, dismissing the shuttle and reclaim it so they would sell then in the exchange ... I suspect many people brought it because it was "Buy a T5 ship, get a T3 ship free" and it did not happened, Capt Geko should have never said that but you guys should also knew that should not have happen.

As I stated above, I did not buy the T5 version, I did not buy any version (well I DID buy the T3 version for EC, before it was converted to a CP purchase only). Please go back and read more carefully.

CaptGeko explicitly stated in one of his posts that if you bought the T5 before F2P, you would be able to claim both the T3 and T5 for free after F2P. It's right there in the link, nobody can argue this. But it turns out that instead of referring to the T5 Excelsior standalone product, he was actually referring to a T3/T5 bundle that nobody ever knew existed and was never for sale.

Please tell me how is it in any way logical or reasonable to expect people to know in advance that he was actually talking about a bundle item that was never for sale and mentioned to the public? And when a cryptic employee openly states that if you buy the T5 now you get both the T3 and T5 free later, what are people supposed to assume?

Besides, the real issue is not that CaptGeko made a mistake. That will happen. He fully admitted he made an error, and understood how it may have been misleading. No, the real problem is that after the truth was revealed, neither he nor anyone else from Cryptic were willing to accommodate those customers who were misled.

First of all thank you all for your opinions, statements and ideas. Some of these I had not even thought of and I like what I see. A solution could be found to make our gaming experience better, help the dev team out, keep the game afloat, and provide Cryptic the funds needed to do the job. We as the community and dev team need to work together to find this solution. I'm surprised at the response here and am very glad to see that you all care for this game enough to voice yourself about it. THIS is what Cryptic needs to hear and take to heart.

A couple of things I should point out:

1. Cryptic needs to make money or this game will die.
How they do it we don't always agree with but we do agree that it is logical to increase income for development. Focus on this. How can this be improved? Fixed even? Do those that care really want to see this ship go down or will you fight to keep it flying?

2. Player base must be satisfied with content.
The leveling process keeps a player happy until they level cap and run out of things to do. do you have any new ways of keeping the experience fresh? Understanding how to make it happen on the resources available is how you execute it properly. This is where our focus should be. (Classic Trek is still my fave because they created great shows and great stories with few resources to work with. If you don't know you should research this).

3. Hold yourselves accountable for what you do or do fail to do.
This works for all of us. I paid a lifetime membership fee after paying for 2 months of game time. I chose to support STO even though I knew it could flop. Its more than paid for by now. I speak because I care about my game. I buy things from the C-Store when I feel it's something worth my personal money. Not all of us see the same value in every item. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Show them your demand for quality. "Having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting." really rings true here for some people.

4. Hold Cryptic accountable for their product.
It's F2P but that does not mean you cannot or shall not demand the needs of the committed gamers be met. Perhaps they never heard your ideas because you never voiced them. Maybe they did but they never knew how to make it work properly because your model for it was lacking, needed materials or too demanding. They could just be strained on working hours or budget. They could be just lax. Does anyone know how to make the dev team respond? I'm sure someone knows how to bring all this to their attention and say, "you will hear us". Help us help ourselves by making them listen and give them new ideas.

5. I play this game for recreation and the love of Trek and good stories.
I think a lot of you are in this boat with me. I don't need monetary compensation for things I agree to freely give the dev team to better my gaming experience. I would gladly toss them thousands of ideas just to see this game flourish because that would make this game so much more fun for me. This is not our job it's our hobby. We get paid for our job. If I agree to give something freely I cannot expect payment. If I give something as a service for payment I cannot expect more than the agreed upon payment. Focus on that. "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations". Roddenberry painted us a world where we set aside our pride and work together to improve the universe we live in.

Again, thank you all again and remember there are no wrong ideas in brainstorming. They are there to open our minds to the possible solutions to problems.

there is no way on earth they'd give 4k c store points away, that's not a realistic number, in fact any c points at all would not happen, that would make doing the hall of fame an expense in the long run.
