A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
Just for that, $20 worth of Master Keys have just been bought :p
Boycotting wont work, dont be silly. If people are willing to pay, they will. There is nothing you can do about it
That's even sillier than a boycott. You really want to spend money to encourage high prices? Granted a "Boycott" per se isn't the answer, but I understand where he is comming from and on one level he is correct. If players don't buy at Cryptics prices, they will have to lower them or go out of business. Judging by other on line game prices I'd say Cryptics current prices are a bit high. I also have some questions about the direction they are going, especially the constant use of a gambling model for their goods and the in game advertising constantly announcing the purchase of ships. I think both are short sighted, speaking as someone with an MBA from a top 20 business school.
Rather than a Boycott, I would encourage calm, constructive feedback to Cryptic about their prices. I would also strongly encourage your actions to match your talk. Saying you hate their prices and then speding $100 for keys isn't helpful. Do take advantage of sales when Cryptic offers them as I know they watch those to see how elastic their prices are.
Game is Free to Play... C-Store keeps my game servers alive.... this is a business... they want to make money....
I have money... store has things I want.... see how this works?
Boycotting is ridiculous..... yes lets make them poorer so they have less resources to make things for the game.... lulz
boycotting this isn't going to destroy cryptic where if they released the stuff straight on the C store for a little more and they would get more people spending mony on them. and less anger over the rip off that is the lock boxs, i still would prefer to see a DCUO what of dealing withthe lock boxs as it would give Gold Membership more use.
To be honest i'm not really too bothered about the lock boxes, although i must say i have got a few clogging up my inventory . . but i might try and sell em cheap on the exchange . . or perhaps just recycle them with my replicator.
I might buy a key if i have the odd few Cryptic points spare, but if i'm honest i just kinda ignore them, if they bother you that much, perhaps just ignore, sell or replicate . . unfortunatly i don't think a boycotte would work . . there are too many goodies in the store to be had . . . . it's almost like boycotting your favorite supermarket because they insist on selling that horrible sandwich filling you hate . . . where it's just simpler to walk past the offensive savory filling and continue with your shopping
If they don't get money from this game them the game will end. This is an MMO not one of the older games you could just sit and play the npc's forever. I dont like the lockboxes. I dont buy the lockboxes in fact i discard them but i will buy extra ship slots, XP bonus, any and all C-store ships, extra inventory, doffs and boffs slots and on the very rare occassion dilithium. If they want me to spend more dough they'll have to put the bug ship, ambassador, gal X w/separation, tier 5 akira retrofit, etc.. in the C-Store. Until then I get plenty of kills, do enough dps/healing to do without any "boxes".
BTW Im a lifetime member. I love STO and havent picked up my PS3 since. I wish all the goodies in the game were earned instead of given for money like how it used to be...i slugged out 50 emblems for my mk x covariant cap x3 or resilient cap x3 (have both). It wasnt an unfair advantage. I earned it just like anyone else could have. Not come on the forums and complain that some people were too hard to kill. I developed better strategies and got better equipment. Why are the pandas or tsi harder to kill in a group. Better strategies and teamwork. Ive killed my share and been stomped by them plenty too.
Cryptic stop nickel and diming us. Give us content and it will come back to you in spades!!!!
This is a classic example of "shooting oneself in the foot".
If they don't make $ from the C-store, this game goes bye-bye. You can not believe it, but that doesn't make it less true.
Every time you see someone win a ship, you should thank them. They are the ones making sure this game stays afloat.
F2P players that don't spend in the C-store are more than welcome. I think it's great they provide that option. More people playing and enjoying is wonderful. But if everyone was F2P and didn't spend any $, we wouldn't have a game to play.
Me I purchase ships,Boff slots, and canon do-dads from the c-store.I dont gamble on keys.Id be mad if I blew $10's on useless consoles,or consumables in the boxes.Ships I can use account wide, and claim as my newer toons level up in time.I have a tac who runs in crusiers for episode missions, and exploration. But switches back to is escort for Pvp and Pve.So I purchased extra boff slots so he can be combat effective in both vessels, by swapping out boffs.I can also reclaim uniform purchases account wide.If it makes you happy...I think I sent over 300 Spoonhead boxes to the vast unknown delete void.Another 130 ferengi boxes ....and still counting. So I might drink cheap beer, and eat bad frozen pizza one friday night a month. Unstead of sipping a microbrew, and ordering out.thats the price I choose to pay for a c-store item. That I will still be using long after that bad pizza is gone. Its how I choose to spend my entertainment budget.Do I need that Pizza? NO! Do I need that C-store item? NO! But I can weigh my options based on my budget...and decide which one I want more.
