Is it possible to get more then just one set of the quad cannons? I'd love a full forward weapons array with them, plus a Quantum torpedo launcher.

I believe you can have more than one with dismissing and claiming multiple copies. You can only EQUIP one, however.

It would kill your engines if you could.

Honestly, I think the engine penalty should be enough to allow these to equip on any ship.

As-is, you'd face such a penalty for cannons inferior to endgame dual heavies that it really would hurt more than it would help to equip multiples.

the quad cannons have to be the most fumbled thing they have done so far. what good is a single weapon? you have 6-8 weapon slots, and thanks to the way they built the weapons your better off using ether all beam arrays or all heavy cannons, something like this could never be anything but worthless, but look cool.

the quad cannons should have REPLACED duel cannons. update server, poof, all duel cannons become quad cannons. in that same update, duel cannons should be re introduced as a lower dps weapon, with like a 60 degree fireing arc. would be very useful in escort dogfights, the person fireing their forward weapons most often is likely to win, would be great on the vorcha too.

instead we got a worthless one off with a wtf engine energy penalty, and plain inferiority to end game heavy cannons. and they limit you to 1, as if they are actually something special in practice. they are a joke, they ruined something that could and SHOULD have been cool, just so they could turn a buck. the costume alone is what sold the Sao Paulo, DUH!!! it didn't need some cheesy cannon, it would have made more sense to give the +1 defiant a plot armor console instead.

I agree 100%.

I mean, what's the point in having both "Dual Cannons" and "Dual Heavy Cannons" ? Why not just replace the 2nd set, and call it "Quad Cannons" ? Greater penalty, greater damage. Success! (Q'apla for my Klingon friends)

And yes... remove the Engine Penalty. I'd be fine if they drained as much as +15 Weapons Power (per cannon), compared to the current Dual Heavy's which drain +12.

Quad Cannons needed to be on the Sabre refit so you got a good run with them, the Klingons get theirs on the First BoP+1. Auto leveling weapons are good for just that, leveling. At end game they lose out.

Dual Heavy Cannons and Dual Cannons serve different purposes. One is about speed, constant fire power and procs. The other is about Burst DPS and big crits.

And I think having a Quad Cannon Exchange for the people who got them so they are still a viable weapon at end game would be nice. You can still have only one set, but you can get it in Purple Mk 12 with your choice of Energy type. I think if they where equal DPS to a DC nobody would care as some peaople want them for the looks.

They have different firing cycles and different uses from each other. Their 'DPS output' via tool tip may look identical at the same Mk, but they achieve it in different manners from each other.
