So I just picked up a purple Klingon Engineer with Aceton Beam III in the Lt. Commander slot. What's with that? Is it a bug, or a crazy rare feature?

It's not even rare, it is probably the most common level III BO ability.

Unfortunately Aceton Beam is not very useful.

AB III is a Commander ability and is very common. As a Lt. Commander ability I have never seen before. I am currently running AB I in my Lt. Commander slot. If you got AB III in your Lt. Commander slot go with it. I run EWP III in my Commander slot. I ike AB helps whole team by decreasing damage dealt by target.

sinme its cleared by hazard emmiters and almost every escort runs HE.... well... not so much.

Um, the point of this thread is that the OP apparently got a bugged Boff ability, not whether said ability is useful or not.

As stated, Aceton Beam III is a Commander-level ability. If your Boff has it in the Lt. Commander slot... then yeah, I'd say that's a bug.

bugged at LtC..... that about sums it up....

I had a boff that looked like it has aceton 3 in its LTcomm slot

I commissioned him and then looked at his skills, and aceton beam 3 was in the commander slot like its supposed to be

It's not a bug, guys, you can get rank III abilities in LtCmd slots. You can train some yourselves or get boffs with rank III abilities already in LtCmd slots. Something like 30% of boffs I recruited had a rank III ability in LtCmd slot.
