Hey people. I had this thing sitting around for a year or so and not quite done with it, waiting on a set to rotate back into stock to complete it or at least to have a consistent color scheme .

Well anyways, to get to the point, just want to see what you people think of this. This is an idea I had for what if Starfleet did consider actually making a new fighter-like craft.

I call this a Javan class recon shuttle. It servers as a dual purpose of being outfitted easily for assault/defense and short range science missions via certain parts being of modular construction. It is only a two man craft with dual beam banks, quad cannons, and a particle accelerator that can be modified for use as a scientific tool or as a weapon, also can be equipped with torpedo pods when called for. There are only two seats in the cockpit area and most of the craft is designed to house the largest warp core possible for power generation rather than give any comforts of the typical shuttle craft.

When I first looked at the description I thought about the Bajoran sub-impulse raider, which is a 2-man fighter craft for in-system use.

Looking at the pictures confirmed my suspicion and somewhat reminded me again of Vipers (albelt the more streamlined later marks).

How fun would it be to have a Star Trek series based around fighter pilots? Perhaps, a Caitian version of Top Gun

I've drawn up things I've made out of Lego before but I have a friend that I bet I could do a cgi of it instead.

The sub-impulse fighter is something I completely forgot about. Big difference I can think of with my thing is the pilot and R/O are almost completely seperate and not sitting side to side

I like it. I notice you've used the windscreens from the original Snowspeeder - I had one myself many years ago... all it is now is a variety of parts in different places.

Anyway, returning to your model, I would way it's lacking 'engines'. Even when they're supposed to be very efficient and sleek, there's normally SOME sort of exhaust port.
