Well my good gaming PC blew up last week so now the only way I can get on the net is via my netbook Unfortunately it has the video memory of a parsnip so STO is very choppy even with all the settings lowered. I am buying a new, cheap PC till I can afford to build a good gaming PC. I am looking at a PC on ebay with the following specs:
Condition:
Seller refurbished: An item that has been restored to working order by the eBay seller or a third party not approved by ... Read moreabout the condition
Brand: HP
Hard Drive: 160 GB Processor Type: Intel Xeon
Primary Drive: DVD Processor Speed: 2 x 3.0GHz
Operating System: Windows XP Professional Memory (RAM): 4 GB
Features: Graphics Card, Network Card
Specifically, would the game run ok on an Intel Xeon processor?

You might be better off listing a price range that you can afford and asking people for any suggestions. Personally I wouldn't but anything like that from on e-bay especially considering it is listed as a seller or third party refurb. There is no guarantee on how well or if it actually works at all.
Without knowing your price range I can't specifically look up a good comp, but my suggestion would be to check out www.tigerdirect.com and see if there is something on there that meets your price range.

I'm not asking for advice on which PC to buy as I simply need a cheap and cheerful PC to do me over until I can afford to build a good high end gaming PC. I am simply asking, would the Intel Xeon processor be sufficient to play STO.
On another note, I have bought PCs on ebay before as a 'reserve' system because Im a bit of a gaming enthusiast and I like tinkering with PCs, so systems blowing up in my face has happened before.
Furthermore, I used to run a PC repair business so please do not insult my intelligence thanks very much.
Yes. yes it will. I got STO to run on a six year old AMD Turion. Xeon would work fine. The hang up will be your GPU, not your CPU. You can play with a graphics card as low as 512MB, but I'd recommend at least 1GB.
