I don't see how the Oddy has been nerfed or even an Oddy with FAW has issues, PvP with a guy in one of the free Oddy's with 2 FAWs and we can't get near him long enough to do any actual damage. Me thinks the issue here is console setup and not a nerfed Oddy
This is a definate bug. I have been running with continuous full power to shields and weapons rotating EPTS and EPTW.
This has worked well and when I initially setup to run like this (a few months ago), I did extensive testing to make sure the power levels stayed up.
And yesterday I noticed they weren't.
Absolutely no changes to my setup, and plenty of other people have noticed this.
If it's a bug, please fix it as soon as possible, if it's a nerf, you'll burn in hell for this! It is definately one or the other.
Since it has been days and days with no resolution or response, we can only assume it is working as intended. I tested this on my Dragon and my Cruiser last night. It's a definite problem, and a deal breaker. Those ship types were already so crippled they barely performed satisfactorily AFTER extensive respeccing and rebuilding. They have now been made utterly, utterly worthless.
If Cryptic is demanding that everyone pilot nothing but escorts, why not just say so? Why all this under the table stealth nerfing?
A lack of a dev response is not proof of anything, especially not their motives.
Also, even at 125 (or 135, whatever the "nondisplayed max" is) weapons power how much power do you think firing eight beams should drain? Heck, firing 7 beams is -70 right there... so unless I missed something, isn't 60/65 weapons power the most you can HAVE during the firing of 8 beams?
Doesn't Nadion inversion reduce the power drain while firing? I know I activate it when i can before firing a BO or FAW.... but I never run more than six beams on anything.
I have had no issues with the oddy. If it's closest ship in design is the star cruiser, I fly it like I have been flying star cruisers. Support and heals. No issues so far. I'm think it might just be player builds and whatnot.
I run the tack oddy with 4phasers and 4 quantoms and I don't notice much of a drain my starting is 123 and it drops to maybe 100 with two beams firing at once. but yah I agree running 8 phasers is just stupid. the drain would be astronomical and once you pop the shields then what? especially on the Borg.
I have noticed the extra drain, also (rarely) when not firing at anything (just after battle finishes)!
That being said, my 8 beam still tears up! Combat parses for standard STFs show me still doing significant DPS, only beaten by well geared/played escorts.
I compensate for extra drain by running max weps, EPtW3 and cycling that with EPtS1, using 3x Damage Control Engineers, gives me close to 90% uptime on both abilities. For Sci abilities/heals I just reroute power to aux (2x EPS Flow Regulators) or pop a battery.
If power drops exceedingly low (bugged?), I click off and stop firing for a second, then resume.
This has been happening since the April 12th patch btw, not sure if it's a bug or intentional though.
Sci Captain/Sci Oddy/DPS Build/PVE only.
There is something off, but the Oddy is far from impaired.
Please keep in mind things such as the power boost from things like MACO shields, Warp Core Engineer Doff, recharge rate from skills/consoles, any potential external drains, etc. If you want a Devs attention I'd suggest you post in detail you character's skill points (sum of skill investment & consoles), weapons used, any boff abilities used, any doffs used, any procs, number of targets, and skill your targets may have been using. Include Captain & Boff traits as well. Also post specific combat log results and what you did to control your numbers.
wow you guys are calling nerf but yet dont know whats really going on? get a clue........the skill that boost eps used to help stop power drain. it no longer is. this is working as intended. and the oddy never was crippled. maybe l2p? epts1 x2 eptw 2 skilled to 6 points. other night i had the whole team shooting at me. a good premade at that. my oddy tanked and my wep power never went below 100. remember its a tank not a dps ship. build for healing mostly and to put out semi ok dps. if your looking for these big ships to put out fire power like an escourt then go to an escourt. this is why you should always be an engy in a large ship. engy class has 2 great. skills like eps and nadion inversion. the doff that boost batts is always good. i use red matter and wep bat. for healing i swap a config and go full aux. really dont need to tho. my oddy is always mostly at 125 in every system. if anything this needs a nerf.
Warp Core Engineer doff procs way too much i think as well.
