So myself and a fleet mate where discussing the double edged sward that is the STF shuttle lockout; it was undeniably necessary to stop the griefers but on the flip sided my fleet had just started running the STF's with five shuttles for fun.. the common phrase 'This is why we can’t have nice things' comes to mind. But I digress, my fleet mate suggested that the Tier-1 vessels would still be able to get in as they aren't 'shuttles'.. I bet him 100,000 EC that Cryptic wouldn’t have overlooked something like that and that there would be no way to enter an STF in a low Tear ship...

So... You made a bad bet... But yes: You can still Grief just fine in low tier ships... Huzzah! Break out your Miranda and call it "Trololololo D" and go to town. Oh... And do not forget to equip MK I white gear btw.
Well, they only really need the lockout on the solo-queues. I don't know why they'd include the private queues in this, other than maybe a case of the lazies and not wanting to create a way for the queue system to differentiate between the two.
But maybe that's being worked on. The system can't currently recognize tiers of starships either, which is why you could get in on a T1, but that's apparently on the list of things being worked on / looked into / tossed around the office until it falls behind a filing cabinet, gets stuck and gets forgot about...

PS: No he didn't actually enter the STF, it was just far enough to prove that there was no lockout. =^^=
Speaking of, Shinji, I really do need to go and schedule that "Tier-One-Elite-Run" this afternoon...
And Shinkuu_Akagan, there is plenty of crying on my ship. It's usually after I've flogged my tactical officer for not hitting Tac Team fast enough in Ker'rat. (Damned UI delay bug...)
So after all that and them making a big deal about how everything will be okay, no more shuttles in STFs, it doesn't even matter. If someone is truly that intent on ruining it, they'll find a way, like using lower tier ships. However with this ban being public and private queue wide it's just one more way to punish fleets and friends that like the challenge of completing a private STF with shuttles/fighters and those that like to roleplay an STF as a mission with a flagship and shuttle/fighter support/player controlled attack craft.
There has to be some consideration as to what such a broad game wide change will do. In the end they prevented nothing, and just took more away from the legitimate players.
Maybe ban shuttles and/or T1 ships for PUGs, but allow them in for teams. That way there's a reduced chance of someone trolling an STF in an NX, but you can still bring an NX if you want to run Infected with friends.
