Science ships cope fine in Pvp as long as three members of your team do not log out the second you start (just did capture and hold with two science vessels against 3 fully armed warships an escort and a well I think it was some sort of attack ship but it was WAY to fast for me to catch and scan so guessing jemi job

I did take care of the escort (three times)
but against a fully armed triad of cruisers not a hope

To effectively pull things in with Gravity Well, you need a lot of Aux power (almost max). You're not going to get respectable energy damage with a setup like that to melt shields (and you can't use Tachyon Beam right after a gravity well), so you're likely going to be using lots of torpedoes.

As it stands, my tricobalt spread does minimal damage to ships caught in a gravity well unless their shields are already down by something else, and if it's just me bringing the shields down, they've likely taken enough bleed damage to be finished off with high yield quantums.

Broadside fire at will with 125 energy to strip shields.
switch to aux mode
fire Gravity Well
Tricobolt Spread.

If you have an engineer you could just hit the Emergency Power button instead.
Aux Batteries are another option if you don't like swapping modes.

It was fantastic how you could mess up an escort's alpha strike with SNB, or snare a BoP in a tractor beam to stop it from escaping. Best of all was the ability to come in against a zombiecruiser and strips its shields.

Now science vessels are no longer worth playing, it just takes too long to do anything.
Word brother!
