I thought Ferasa was the Caitian name for their homeworld. In Galactic standard it is known as Cait but in their language it is Ferasa I thought?

Ferasa is the current homeworld of the Ferasans.

The Caitians left Ferasa a long time ago over some...significant disagreements. There are a pair of new story assignment chains coming, one for each faction, that explore some of this history.

It depends a lot upon which source you are using. TAS might have mentioned Cait directly. I would need to rewatch the M'Ress episodes to be sure. I had never heard of Ferasa until 1989's Worlds of the Federation by Shane Johnson. The author who wrote Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise. I speculate that Johnson may have adopted that from Trek novelizations or fan-fiction of the time. The names have been used interchangeably ever since.
