Hi everyone,
what really bugs me when flying my carrier is that i don't see how many fighter i got out currently. It would be nice if we could have a small window showing the type and number of fighters we current got out.
I totally agree that we need something in the UI to help us keep track and manage our pets. As it is now it's hard to know if they even are alive, especially in a game where there are multiple carriers.
I'm really surprised Cryptic haven't implemented this yet since it's usually a common practice in games where you have pets to also have some kind of icons in the UI representing them and maybe some info on their status. It feels like an obvious thing that is missing.
I think there a few "simple" things that carriers are missing :
Pet monitor
nice idea so we know how many more we need to respawn
Intelligent respawning
Bigger problem in STF's, half your pets run off to the other side of the map and generally don't do what they're told. If you recall to carrier all your pets are useless for a while but if you try to "recall" by spawning more pets it's the pets nearest to you that get removed first and doesn't solve the problem. The smart thing would be to remove the pets furtherest away from you.
If you do have all your pets close by and try a respawn to heal damage pets wiell it's anyones guess as to which damaged pets if any get replaced.
Pets commands
Just make them simpler, and there are only three that are needed.
Attack my target - fly at, and shoot the thing I'm looking at
Defend me - stay close and shoot at anything that's targeting me.
Defend team - as all mob's will be targeting some team member, fly around and shoot the nearest thing
it would allow you to be able to select them from the list and heal them appropriately.
plus a dismiss command would be cool, i know it's rarely used, most people would just warp out, but i would love a dismiss command and be able to watch my fighters dock.
I do love the carriers and agree that we need more info on what our pets are doing. I would love a UI section that allows you to see all pets current status. Approximate hp/shields, current stance, ability to individualy order them into a different stance, number remaining, a dissmiss button, place to click to target them for heals, Distance from carrier.
The issue asside from any current technical or it not being important enought of a feature for the decision makers to give the ok on would be getting all that info in the UI in manner that dose not take up the whole screen and is visible enough to be legable for low and high end machines.
Takeing a carrier that would be currently up to 4 pets so 4 boxes that would not be to bad and another 2 boxes if you brought a combat summon like the Scorpion fighters. Now I have not gotten any of the other Combat pets personaly as I am still working on getting the C-Store ships I want. So someone else would have to answer if it is possible to summon the Scorpion fighters and the Lobi store fighters? Becouse if it is then you could eventually see a ship needing 4 squares for base fighters + 2 squares for each device slot that player devotes to summoned pets. Thus upto 12 squares, 4 base + 8 device.
Heck if it you could get up to 12 units they may want to add an RTS option for carrier commanders. Yes idea stolen from Dungeon Defenders been haveing fun with the summoner.
I would like a different set of attack rules for each hanger. That way I could send the drones to attack a cube, and my fighters to attack probes - or whatever.
