# 1 You're out of uniform cadet!
05-23-2012, 06:40 PM
So I beamed onto my bridge for the first time, and went "Ohh" and "AHH" over the sleek lines of my bridge and my perfect officers all matching behind their consol- wait WTF?! Why is that cadet out of uniform? This isn't the love boat! This is a god damn WARSHIP! Who said you could wear your PJ's to a borg encounter you miserable little... This is going in your perminent record!

So yeah, about that. I know I'm not the first one to ask, nor will I be the last, BUT I have a one up on everyone else who's asking. See, the way I see it one of you guys from cryptic happens to see a dentist I'm related to, and by related I mean that she's my mother. Now I don't want to pull the dentist phobia card, but I will be willing to convince my mother that cryptic is wreaking havoc with a series she loves which may end up in extra pokes and jabs... So with that in mind I ask: Can we have a crew default pattern for the rest of the crew so you look like a sleek ship of the line please?

And remember, she could be your dentist.

The OP is right, this has been brought up before. The general response we've gotten from teh Devs is that they're looking into a way of using the Foundry to make it so that you can pick your crew's uniform. How far they've gotten on this is anyone's guess.

I look at it this way.

The boffs get to wear the good stuff.

The crew gets the cast offs.

Wait until you go down to the engineering lab and see your crew standing on the multi million credit consoles. Guess you found your back up team member.

From what I have heard, it will be fixed with the inclusion of Starship interiors in the Foundry.

Basically, what Cryptic is working on is allowing players to create "social hub" maps with the same basic tools as we have to create combat maps now. With this will come the ability for pathing of NPCs as well as basic clothing options for those NPCs.

So don't worry about it. We can only hope that there is not a flood of starships created with all-female crews wearing outfits to make an Orion blush.

Nah, this community is far too mature for that....

Not that they don't do their best.

But seriously, if I want a Mirror themed ship, I should be getting a Mirror themed ship, CREW AND ALL. Though, I have always wondered about that... How would it even use the foundry? Seems like there would be much easier ways....

Edit: I while i'm at it, i would like to be able to customize the department heads (bartender, chef, counselor, chief engineer, ops, ETC.) To give my crew a rounded out, unique appearance, so everyone can tell when they're on MY ship, instead of the cookie cutter ones.

It would also be nice to remove certain races from you ship, not that i'm a racist or anything, but i have never been fond of lizards in skirts.... eeeckth....

Along the lines of this thread, it puzzles me that Non-Federation Faction Bridge Officer Exchange recruits can't be modified at all. Can't alter their physicality and, most annoyingly, ya can't alter their attire to wear your crew-specific customized Starfleet uniform.

I recently added the Jem' Hadar and Reman BOFFs to my ship's bridge crew. And it's an eye sore, seeing my Reman Science Officer manning a bridge station, clad in his Reman leathers, gianormous shoulder pads and funky cape. I've yet to see my Jem' Hadar Tac Officer on the bridge, but I've no doubt that his presence on the bridge will be equally glaring. Same can be said for the Breen BOFF I hope to acquire soon and any other such BOFFs I might pick up along the way.

And it's absolutely puzzling to me that we can't outfit such BOFFs to wear proper Starfleet uniforms; especially given that a whole bunch of aliens were featured as prisoners in orange prisoner jump suits (including a Breen and methinks Reman too), during the 'Facility 4028' portion of the '2800' Feature Episode.

So, ya put a Breen and a Reman into an orange prisoner jumpsuit, but not allow players to outfit the same aliens with Starfleet Uniforms??!! What gives Devs???

I know the feeling. Even if you can't give them Star Fleet Uniforms, it would be nice to at least have customization options instead of having three boffs that everyone else has. Far too samey.

Even if it were as simple as "pick uniform top/bottom/boots" from your available uniforms and the system assigned default colours based on job....
