Yeah, but with the Delta-class it's harder to ignore the size issues because it's just SO damned big.
Like I said, I have it; I use it; I like it - but I don't prefer it over my Type 10.

But as pointed out, I don't optimize for performance, I optimize for completely subjective RP LOLLORE 'feel.'

Brilliant, I never even considered that one.

Point Defense would help greatly, but the Thunderchild is 800 points, any Shuttle is 400 points. For 800 Points you could get the Yellowstone and the Delta Flyer and use the Tetryon Plasma Engines, and the 2 BOFF stations.

And to various people, Scale is way out in this game.

I actually rather like the Yellowstone Runabout. Not the most attractive looking small craft, but capable enough, and I love dumping plasma in the path of whatever is behind me.

Replayed 'The Foundry' in it a few times and it performed very well.

I pretty much use it as my Lt-level ship now. The other options just aren't that good; I'd rather fly the Perry over a Miranda for the first 9 levels.
Hadn't thought of doing that - may have to purchase a Perry for my secondary toon and give it a try!

Ha-ha! Delta flyer + tetryon engines + thunderchild console = AWESOME SHUTTLE! I played Op. Gamma with this build and loved it all the way.

Edit: Sorry for the Zombie, people. I didn't check the latest post date.

For my own experience, a Tal'kyr (the vulcan shuttle) with point defense and grappler can help a lot, and you can use two science. Tal'kyr are useful in the vault because this little baby can heal the hull of your allies at pace of 1 beam in each 12 or 15 seconds.

I personally tend to stick with my Danube Runabout for missions since it kind of makes sense when you are going on a distant mission (also because I'm too cheap to spend money on a C-Store shuttle).
