Well, ive hit the big 50 and my fleet escort is getting a little dull.

(I'm engineering btw)

I'm a massive fan of Voyager, and i love the look of the ship and the idea of the Special armour.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, the Defiant retrofit has a cloak (and both ships are for a 1600cp price) - And as ive just started a Klingon playthrough ive got quite into my cloaking. (As my T4 ship i purchased the Sao Paulo, i just love the look of it), and the idea of having a cloaking version of my Sau Paulo is just too cool. But then again, will Ablative armour be more usefull?

So, does anybody own either of these ships? Which would you say is the better ability to have?

Thanks in Advance.

I splurged for them both. That said, if you have to choose between one or the other, I'd go with the Defiant just because it's better for Elite STF's. Load it up with Mk XI dual cannons up front and turrets in back (all of the same energy type) and two or three Mk XI tactical consoles to enhance the same energy type, and you have yourself one devastating STF escort. Peace through superior firepower, indeed.

I also splurged for them both. But if I had to pick ide go with the Intrepid its just my fave ship of all time so Im a bit biased. My Defiant with cloak has it's previous C-store tear weapon equipped so it does some heavy duty DPS.

I have both as well andI prefare my Defiant, like mentioned above Cannons and Turrets with the added consoles and you have a great Alpha strike weapon.

Intrepid is a good ship also, but if you are looking at going down the STF route then I would go Defiant.

Becouse you are comeing from a Fleet escort I would say the Defiant will feel more familiar. Personaly I perfer the Fleet escort over the C-store ships it just suits me better.

I do not know if you have played a science ship before. If you have and enjoy the way a Science ship set up then flip a coin.

The Quad Cannon is a option for the defiant but you may find it dose less dammage than the anti-borg weapons. Star off by useing the Quad and adding STF borg weapons as you get them. In elites you may wish to use all anti-borg for the extra proc but in normal you will be fine.

Definetley the Defiant. There will those times when you want to kill an enemy quick. The Defieant does that very well and the handling is i think second only to the Jem bug ship.

Owning both I'd say defiant forget the intrepid, a little slower on turn rate but the nebula is the better ship for 1 reason the lt cmd engineer boff station. She's a high end sci vessel that can tank pretty well. And with the lt universal boff slot has better build abilities than the ntrepid. The defiant is good for a engineer miracle worker may keep you alive.

I got Interpid retro with Cygones build so I can tell you something about my playtime experiences with it.

To make a long story short - with this build it's perfect. In STFs you can quicly take down shields of a normal enemies and then blast them with torpedo salvos. Plus you got awsome healing abillities (both for hull and shields) so you can tank. Ablative armor is awsome. When activated you're literally undestructable for a short period of time.
Killing enemies fast with an escort beam boat? Sorry but it doesn't work if someone blows generators to fast in Infected elite and a whole group of spheres are coming to heal the transformer. In a times like this you want to have a fine gravity well from your Sci ship, which is Interpid.

As for PvP games. I dueled with my fleet member. I was in Interpid, he got full beam Defiant. I won. Yeah - he did a whole lot of a dmg to me but my heal abillities allowed me to regenerate shields and repair my hull. When situation got really bad I just activated Ablative armor and he couldn't do nothing to me. It was a little different when he used Polarize hull to counter my tractor beams. Then I couldn't hold min in a place so he was to fast for me to lock my torp launchers on him. Still he couldnt destroy me so it was a tie.

I prefer the Defiant Retrofit over the Long Range Science Wessel.

I just love Dual Cannons.
