I have a KDF tactical character and the only character. I have invested skill points heavily in tactical tree, and moderately in Eng tree specially on powers related to hull, eps and shield, and none in sci abilities.

For a few days, I am toying with the idea to use my Bortas. However, I have no idea what BO setup and consoles I should have. I assume that I'll need to go for anti-proton beamboat approach with beamover load and emergency power to weapon (and shield). I might even try some other battlecruiser which is more tactical oriented in terms of firepower and tactical consoles.

Any other recommendations you may have?
Which battlecruiser has the best turn rate? (I won't be using RCS console as it has very little impact on turn rate)

Thanks in advance :-)

Here is a good build for a vor'cha, which is the fastest turning battlecruiser: http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...5&postcount=79

The Vorcha is indeed a good turning Cruiser.

Generally, I've leaned heavily towards beam arrays for Cruisres, KDF or Fed. Superior arcs and more chances for more weapons hitting. Depending on the turn rate of the Cruiser, most esp. something like a Vor'Cha, you may afford to throw in something narrower in arc and more powerful. That really helps when you're part of the group decloaking and doing an alpha strike. But if it turns into a scrum where you're turning and banking, then the narrow arcs will be an issue, and that's where normal beam arrays really shine.

As for a Tac Captain in a Cruiser, it can work and it can be nasty if you know what you're doing. There's lots of ways in doing this too. Naturally, ensure you have Tac Team somewhere for offensive boost and as well as automatic shield balancing. One of my favorite ways is to *allow* getting damage through to your hull, getting below 50% or something like that, whatever feels comfortable, then suddenly popping up Emergency Power to Shields, Tactical Tm, and if you want, Transfer Shield Strength (maybe a bit later). With strong shields covering your heavily damaged hull, then you hit "Go Down Fighting," pop a Weapon Battery or Red Matter Capacitor, BO or Fire At Will, then profit.

Keep your shield strength up, don't heal your hull until "Go Down Fighting" wears off. It can last a good long while and you will surprise some guys by how much damage you're suddenly doing.

"Go Down Fighting" in a Cruiser is really the only time you get to make the most of this nasty ability, because the margin of survivability in an Escort when it's hull starts to get beaten down is very small. But a Cruiser can take the pounding more, and still pop its shields up to cover it's hull damage.

Try this;
Varch'a refit

EPTS1 RSP1 EWP1
EPTS1 A2EB1 EXTS2 A2SIF3
TSS1 HE2
TT1
THY1 CSV1

(3) cannons (1) torp - front
(3) turrets (1) torp - rear

(3) purple Technician DOffs
(1) purple Damage Control DOff
(1) purple Shield Distribution DOff

cycle EPTS/A2EB/A2SIF/THY/CSV on a keybind with fire energy and Distribute shield

keep TSS+TT and/or RSP+TT for quick shield heals
keep HE2, EXTs2, TSS2 for friendly heals
EWP for the annoyance but it it swappable for a ET3 for more friendly heals if you wish.

Interesting. No Eng.Tm in a cruiser?

I figured that if the extra hull healing was needed I could swap out the ewp BOff for one with ET3.

BortasQu Command BC: tactical toon

BFAW1 CSV1
EPTS1 A2EB1 (A2EB2/EXTS2/RSP2) A2SIF3
TB1 HE2
TT1 ApD1 (B03/BTS:X3/BFAW3)
EPTS1

(4) BEAM ARRAYS {though one could put 2 DBB + 2 beam arrays instead}
(4) Turrets

Omega Deflector
Omega Engines
KHG shield

(20) Aux batts (20) Eng batts (1) Subspace field modulator (5) Dueterium

(2) Nuetronium armor (1) Borg Console (1) plasmodic leech
(2) Shield Field Amplifiers or (2) Field generators
(4) energy consoles

DOffs
(1) Energy Weapons officer (cannons)
(1) Energy Weapons officer (beams)
(2) Technicians
(1) Warp Core Engineer

or

(2) Damage Control Officer
(1) Warp Core Engineer
(2) Technicians

or

(1) Damage Control officer
(1) Warp Core Engineer
(2) Technicians
(1) Tractor Beam officer

cycle EPTS1+EPTS1+ A2EB1+ (A2EB2)+ ApD1+BFAW1+CSV1+(BFAW3/BTS:X3)+ A2SIF3 on a keybind to keep them constant.

save BO3 + apa+TacFleet+GDF for high power strikes
Save EXTS2 + HE2 for heals to teammates
If using RSP2, use with TT1 for fast shield recovery.
use TB1 to grab those pesky escorts.

Otherwise the skilling for this build is without torps but heavy on the anti- drain and anti-CC/Stun skills to ensure long life in combat.

SKILLS: ANTI-DRAIN/ANTI-CC/STUN

With 9s in Flow Capacitor and Power Insulators, 6s in Inertial dampners and Sensors, you should be well protected against drains, stuns, holds and scrambles.
