And here we go again. Another patch, another new C-store toy, and more gambling, this time for a freighter. Pathetic. Put the freighter, the Jem'Hadar attack ship, all of those things on the C-store and I'll probably save up for what I want, but I'm not gambling on getting a rare one in a box. C-store is equivalent to real money, unlike dilithium and energy credits. I'm not stupid.

They've already said, countless times I might add, that they can't just put those ships on the c-store as they aren't allowed to have non faction type ships become main stream (ie most federation captains flying a jem'hadar ship, or cardie galor etc)

Then dont buy it. Its that simple. I fail to see thr problem with this simple concept. Its clled self control and if you have none it is your own fault.
if people are buying doffs anyway let them have a chance of a ship. if they want to spend 200 bucks on doffs to get the ship that is up to them. they are getting the doffs. the ship is extra. this is a much better solution than lock boxes where you are more likely to get something worth pennies than the top prize - if you even get a gold box at all (haven't seen one myself in months)
also a lot of people have got these ships without spending a dime through prodigious dilithium farming and converting to cpoints. some folks pay real cash some don't.

I don't want a casino next door, and I find the gambling being intimately intertwined with a game I enjoy extremely unpleasant.
It's a little tough to ignore, given lockboxes appear EVERYWHERE, pop up in every STF for 'roll on this!,' and I constantly get messages about people finding various ship prizes.

Quoted for truth.

I can understand that for the Jem'Hadar, and the Galor, maybe the D'kora, but an underarmed freighter, it could have been a C-store item.

Isn't the only way to get the freighter right now is to buy the DOFF reinforcement pack and have a chance roll for a bonus to your purchase? If so, that's not gambling since your paying for a product and getting a bonus item attached to it without additional cost.
The previous lock box stuff however was gambling since you payed x and had a chance to get something of less than x value. Since gambling is illegal in most places including many states in the US, you should bring it to the attention of your DA or equivalent.

If this counts as 'a casino next door' to you, you need to get off the planet. Seriously, there is much more serious online gambling all over the place, not to mention non-virtual casinos.
It is understandable that you might find the spam annoying but don't pretend you are making some sort of moral stand against gambling.
