The Tac/Atrox Carrier.. Beta Version:

First off, the Tactical Officer in an Atrox Carrier is not necessarely the best, or even most team friendly build.

You also won't do the most damage in a map, nor will you be able to kill every build on the map. But it will force Escorts to some times reconsider other targets depending on the support you can pull out of the build, and what kind of Skill you are at keeping your buffs up. Even Evasive/Eng Bat can be a useful tool if used wisely. You don't have to sit there and take a beating if it's a losing one. And remember Distribute your shields is your friend. Use it often.

Currently, due to lack of Funds on the character, and lack of Doffs it's a mix match of Powers and doffs being used.

This is the build below using the following consoles and Deflector/Engine/Shield and doffs:

Deflector: Very Rare Tachyon Deflector Mk XII [PrtG][FlwC][InC]
Engines: Borg
Shield: Borg

Engineering Consoles: Borg Console Rare Ablative Hull Armor Mk XI, Rare Tetraburnium Armor Mk XI
Science Consoles: 4x Rare Particle Generator Mk XI
Tactical Consoles: 2x Rare Phaser Relay Mk XI
Hanger: Advanced Danube Runabouts, Peregrine Fighters

Doffs: 1x Rare Shield Distribution Officer, 1x Rare Technician, 1x Rare Gravimetric officer, 1x Development Lab Scientist,1x Uncommon Shield Distribution Officer

The weapons are:
Fore: 1 Phaser Array, 1 Dual Beam bank, 1 Chronoton Torpedo
Aft: 2x Phaser Array 1x Plasma Mine (I plan to change to a Chrono Mine)


This is designed to do multiple things:
Increase damage on FBP, TBR, GW, and EWP.
Reduce Recharges on powers when most Aux based powers have been used with Aux to Bat.
Have Moderate Survivability.
Provide Small spot heals when need to, but only if you are not under heavy fire your self.

Typical Combinations:
EpTS + tac team 1 + APA + GDF + Tac Fleet + FBP+Tractor Beam if in range
GDF (50% Hull)+ EPTS 1 + Tac team + FBP + Repulsors
Gravity Well + Tractor Beam + EWP.

Have you even tried it, or are you just posting an uneducated opinion on the matter?

Considering that a Tactical in a Carrier is usually a Prime subject to attacks in PVP, this design is ment to use that usual disadvantage and flip it into an advantage.

If I get targeted by Escorts/BoPs that aren't understanding how FBP works, especially when I activate Tac buffs, they will die. And even if they are, I have other tricks up my sleeve.

If you can't convince an Escort/BoP to leave you alone, they will continue to come after you and kill you. Weither it's proving that your too tough to kill (Engi) or giving another reason to avoid you. And with the build above it's ment to do just that.

If you want to be a Tank as a carrier, the Engineering path is for you. If you want to do DPS, you more then likely SHOULD fly an Escort. Short of doing that, you should be trying to act like a Tac Officer in a Science ship. Buffing your Sci powers damage. It might seem short sighted in a ship that can turn like a Garbage Truck on a Garbage day Pickup, but that is the purpose of the above build. To be Tankier then an Escort, but still actually provide support DPS that a Tac in a Carrier should be providing. Leave the healing to the Engineers.

When I tested using lots of offensive sci powers, I found that with only one hull heal and only two shield heals (one of which was epts3 in my case), a single escort could blow up the ship too easily.

Also, a lesson that I learned on the first few pages of my own Tactical carrier thread was that having some kind of shield resist (be it the MACO shield or a shield that is specially geared towards the more common Pvp weapon types, such as [Ap] [Dis] [Pha]), is very helpful.

When using Emergency Power to shields 3, It helps if you have the following power set up:

Weapons /25
Shields /50
Engines /25
Aux/100

When you activate emergency Power to shields 3, it SHOULD bring your shields up to at least 110 aproximately. Maybe even 125 depending on other skills trained. That extra Shield power will give your shields a super resist boost that will help them survive more incoming damage. Surprisingly useful Information, is that Aux 2 Batery, while it will only get used Sparingly, Provides (For me) a +49 to all Power settings at 123/100 Aux power. That 49 Brings me from a 77/50 Shields to a 125/100 Shield power setting. That brings my resists up to a very durable shield. After which if I use Science Team to recover shield power during that 10 second duration, it is almost the same effect as having Emergency Power to Shields 3. Except that Emergency power to shields 3 would also provide a much needed Shield Resistance buff as well.

Once again this depends on your skill specing. If you notice I only have 6 in the apporiate skill. I could put 9 in, maxing it out and maximizing my Bridge officer power, but I haven't yet because the skills are set to be viable to switch between mutiple variant Builds/Ships depending on my Mood since I can suddenly get ideas and may want to change the build or change ships entirely.

Webdeath, please don't bother getting involved with that dude. You shouldn't have dignified his two-worder post with a response in the first place, if he wants to believe shield resists make a ship "fragile", let him go with it.

Are you guys sure you want to give the image about PvPers you are giving to any newbies out there? Because they might falsely think that all pvPers are like you, and would therefore loose interest in the activity.
