A fairly long musing on (and first look at) Fleet retrofits, a couple of odd bugs and some other random stuff.

Main points (TL, DW):

- Fleet Starbase missions may (emphasis on 'may', it was a fairly unusual set of circumstances) be triggering at a server reboot even if not fully funded. Good accountants?

- Fleet Assault Cruiser vs Fleet Odyssey. Ody can match (more or less) the selling points of the FAC, has more crew, is more flexible and generally a better ship. Does the FAC need a boost/rethink?

- Fleet Heavy Escort + Phaser Point Defence console (Thunderchild). 90%+ of the Armitage for 40% of the bill?

- Retrofit Luna and Nova - Game changer for science vessels (outside the Nebula and Sci-Ody) with the extra tactical station, especially the Nova.

- Commissioning Directives. No idea how to get these, expecting pain.

- Lots of minor stuff.

If I remember correctly from the Priority One interview with Al Rivera, the Fleet Ships require a C-Store crafting item which apparently is the Commissioning Directives. I could be wrong.

the recon sci has always had the tactical ensign station. whats different is the 4th tactical console.

comparing the fleet sov to the anniversary odyssey is hilarious. if you used the LTC station for tactical on the ody, you would have only 4 engineering stations, so like not enough to tank with for more then a minute. at least with the fleet sov you can easily cycle EPtS1, and have ther more engineering powers of sci powers. and the fleet sov has 4 tactical consoles, compared to 2 on the ody. the difference that would make in damage dealing alone is huge. the anniversary ody is only ever going to be effective at tanking and healing damage, wile the sov will be good at dealing damage, and plenty good at tanking and healing.

I hope this is wrong. If there is a C-Store (real money) component, then why not just put them in the C-Store to begin with. C-store ships are just as good, if not better, than the fleet ships. Why would I pay C-store AND go through the pain of fleet grinding for them??

My questions is this. On test, you can see these ships in the ESD ship vendor. You can buy the non-'fleet' ones for fleet marks (like 200,000). So even if my fleet doesn't have the right level of shipyard, cant i just buy it off the esd vendor for 200,000 fleet creds?

Since there is a grinding component to getting fleet ships and it is not an account unlock, then I would be surprised if it is more than 400 CP. At 400 CP, subscribers can get one fleet ship unlocked every month. Besides you don't even need to pay a cent to this game if you grind dilithium and use the Dilithium Exchange.

As far as obtaining the refits, there are restrictions to obtaining the ships. Meaning that ship you want that is in the Tier 5 shipyard requires your fleet to obtain a Tier 5 shipyard. Also, I doubt that you can by ships from the Fleet Shipyard at ESD. Might work like that now due do the system not done, but we should see it working properly soon if that is how it currently works.

Also since we don't know if the Commissioning Directive is Bind on Pickup, it could be purchased from the exchange. So there could be two ways to get it without paying a cent.
