I've levelled several chars through system patrols alone* (and only Space ones) and a KDF char through PvP alone*.

*well, I DOFFed, too. And there are 2 missions one is pretty much required to do: the Subspace Field Modulator mission and the Borg Module mission. Though the latter is close to 50 anyway.

There is the Mirror Universe Incursion event which lasts for one hour and has enhanced sp and with a 1 hour sp boost added on top of that, it can be a great way to gain levels.

Its how I level most my new alts now, make a new toon, get an escort/bop, pack up on canon scatter volly and torp spread and away I go pew pew the Terrans.

The advantage to this is once you gain levels, you can skip all the missions you can, then replay them all without turning them in and activate another sp boost which means when you turn in all your missions at once, massive sp gain.

Warning, this poster tends to talk nonsensically when caffine levels fall below 80%.

I did similar with Red Alerts since they're XP Boost zones. If I saw a Red Alert come up shortly after logging in to that char, I'd go to it and quickly (particularly if it's an empty one) go through my completed DOff missions for an extra bit of XP from them. Also make sure to report in a complete Red Alert while still in the zone. Saving up completed assignments was something that I was considering, but I didn't want to run most of the missions anyways, so nothing to save up.

It's not the best xp, but if you can handle it solo, leveling by playing Otha is by far the most lucrative way of progressing through the ranks. Good mk4/mk6/mk8 gear is worth several times more than the mk10/11 gear you can get from there at level 50.

And, yes, leveling by pvp is the most interesting way to go. Find a pvp fleet and don't be afraid to ask for help while you're at it, and treat your lower levels as opportunities to experiment with all the ideas they give you... it's fun Try things out. Play space and ground. If somebody shocks and awes you, don't get mad - ask them for advice.

The absolute fastest way to level is to team up with a couple really solid AoE DPS space characters, match their level (50), buy xp boost tokens, and run the Fed Mirror Event. Beam out after the end boss warps in and immediately requeue. With a good group you can get about ten levels an hour. It's all kinds of boring, but it reduces levels 1 to 50 is about 6 hours of game-time, so if VA is all you're after....

Not doubting you but if that's true, you may want to point that out officially. I believe the record is 17 hours or so.
